The Journey to Nebula…
…and what a journey it was.

This quilt has been 2+ years in the making. It started as the 2021 Block of the Month (BOM) at Red-Roxy Quilt Co.

I did finish the quilt top during the BOM session but I knew I wanted to spend some time quilting it. I underestimated the time it would take to achieve my vision 🤯

But it’s done and on the bed. Maybe sometime over the next 2+ years I’ll get some pillows made to match 🤣

If you visit us don’t be surprised if I find a way to show off this beauty!

Now … time to start a new BOM with Red-Roxy.

It’s Binding Day.

If I’m being honest, it’s my least favorite part of the quilting process. Which explains why I have a project from two years ago that is still waiting for binding.

This project is also two years in the making 🫣

I am loving this pattern. And the beautiful fabric!

I quilted the outside fabrics prior to assembly. I love the added texture and I’m already thinking of what I might do next!

I partnered up with my friends at Red-Roxy Quilt Co. to create this custom Decorah Volunteer Fire Department and Toppling Goliath Brewing Co. quilt.

The quilt measures 74 x 90” and is backed with Cuddle {seriously is there even another option?!}

You’ll see an axe, helmet, and the traditional Maltese cross, and flames in the quilting (stitching) pattern.

And a 18” square pillow to match. I failed to take a photo of it though.

Jessica Schnitzler Rediske and I had fun making this (no surprise there!) and even got Tommy in on some of the action.

The fundraising Gala will be held on Friday, February 2nd at Toppling Goliath.

Shout out to Firefighter Darron for standing behind the quilt for the photos 😂

This one is Luxe Cuddle Sydney front and back. Sydney is a mink inspired product that is so soft and cuddly it is guaranteed to help you forget your to-do list.

If you are still cold while using this you should probably turn the heat up!

Monday morning was really productive …. Or so I thought 😟

After lunch I started to layout the stitch pattern for the next set of blocks. But wait, why does this not seem right…?

I spent the morning stitching the wrong pattern on the light grey blocks 🤦🏻‍♀️

Left - wrong pattern
Right - correct pattern

Many have told me they would just leave it alone. I just can’t. One whole corner of the quilt wouldn’t have the clean line pattern in the light grey blocks and it would forever haunt me.

I started this quilt in 2021 so what’s a little more time at this point? It takes me about 45 minutes to get the stitching out of one diamond. So I’m looking at several hours of added work.

Proof that things do go wrong in the Cave. Not all are this costly though!
