🌧️ Fun Fact Friday! 🌱
With all the monsoon-level rain we’ve had the past couple of days, everything is looking extra lush — which makes it the perfect moment to spotlight one of the most unexpectedly fascinating plants out there: the artichoke.

💚 Did you know…
- Artichokes actually originated in the Mediterranean and have been cultivated for over 2,000 years.
- They symbolize hope, peace, and prosperity.
- What we eat is actually the flower bud. If left to bloom, an artichoke opens into a huge, stunning purple thistle-like flower.
- Beyond eating them steamed, grilled, or stuffed, artichokes make gorgeous cut flowers. Their vase life can stretch up to two weeks, especially if you let them open fully.

So while the rain keeps pouring, at least it’s perfect weather for growing something beautiful — and maybe even dinner.

Another sunny and humid day here on the Gulf Coast — and you know we can’t start it without a delicious cup of coffee in hand.
Today’s fun fact spotlight: Boxwood!

Boxwood has been around for thousands of years and is native to regions of Europe, Asia, Africa, and Central America.

🌱 Number of Species:
There are over 100 species in the Buxus family, plus countless cultivars used in gardens and floral design.

🌱 Meaning:
Boxwood symbolizes steadfastness, longevity, and eternal life — which is why it’s often used in weddings and holiday décor.

🌱 Vase Life:
Fresh boxwood typically lasts 7–14 days in arrangements when kept cool and hydrated.

Boxwood always reminds me of my childhood home’s front yard — those hedges lined the whole yard and were the backdrop of so many memories.
