This morning I get to think on how much my husband cared for me this weekend. How he loved me so well. I get to think about friends who have stepped in the gaps for my heart- dropped by dinners and cereal and hugs. I get to thank God for family who did our laundry and grabbed kids and came to soccer games I get to thank Him for a sister who drove hours to fill our fridge, do my dishes and cry with me. I get to thank God for being such a good friend. Its been quiet over here. My numbers are even. 3 here with me on earth and 3 I never got to hold. Even in the storm I know with every ounce of me God is so good.

The very place these flowers started was out of grief. We are right back to that place but my perspective is different. Walking a journey helps you walk it again. The gift of remembering is the very thing that helps me journey again.

The thing I’ve learned about grief over the years is it is relentless. It also keeps you needy and dependent and everything in our world equates that to weakness. God has shown me that very equation is what has made Him so good to me. If that’s your life equation right now, what a difficult place but man- what a gift. It has changed me. It continues to change me.

Psalm 46 has held me. Thankful for that refuge.

Home is where your story lives—full of quirks, imperfections, and the beauty of real life.

If you look closely around mine, you’ll almost always find a flower, a plant, or a candle (and legos pieces and nerf bullets). The simplest things, but they bring life into even the smallest, most overlooked spaces.

That’s the approach I’m choosing—creating a home that feels like us.

My favorite time of year is here. I like to call it Forage Season. It’s the time each year when my clippers stay close by and I enjoy whatever nature is willing to offer.

What makes it so beautiful is the simplicity of it—just being grateful for what exists right here and right now. I’m going to sit for a while, admire this vase filled with freshly foraged branches, and remind myself that goodness is already here.

Why don’t you go clip a few branches and do the same? I have a feeling you’ll enjoy those quiet moments too.
