Fish Camp Session Three (the surprisingly chill one): Happy Birthday to OG Camper James Edwards! Not sure why but we caught more soft shell turtles on jugs today than I ever recall us catching. Bream weren’t cooperating but catfish and crappie were (nice job Capt. Chuck!) Tomorrow the boys will go to the cutting board for fillet day. Barton Outfitters Youth Summer Fishing Camp Session Three: Spillway days have become a hit this summer as continued low release means we can basically water slide down the steps all the way to the Yazoo. Our campers made their own jugs, practiced knots and caught some 300 fish today (mostly bluegill but a handful of crappie and catfish). Tomorrow we’ll put all that use to good bait as we go back over the dam and try to catch a monster on the jugs that sells for a song. It’s not too late to drop in this week ($250 for Wednesday-Friday or $100/day) or to register for our remaining overnight or day camps. Visit bartonoutfitters.com/fishcamp to get in on the action

Fish Camp Session Two Day Five: We’re done but the best group of boys and the best group of parents helped us round out a fantastic week of fish camp for almost exclusively first time campers (except my man Callum!) Thanks to Capt. JJ, Capt. Chuck, Capt. Dan Capt. John, Sofe, Landry and Miss Val for making sure the boys had an unforgettable week.

Fish Camp Session Two Day Three: It isn’t any fun and we do the same thing every day 🙄 Today we benefited from limited release at the Enid Lake spillway and gave the boys mini-clinics on jug making, knot tying, cast netting, followed by a team bank fishing tournament. One of my most enjoyable days of fish camp this summer, especially seeing so many young anglers fishing and catching independently! We have openings throughout the summer. Fish Camp Session Two: the Clarksdale Mafia learned why we call this a hands on fishing camp. The boys listened and thankfully it didn’t become a fingers off. We teach campers how to rig, tie knots, clean and cook their catch and become a better angler.
