Interesting article about a growing component of collecting, common in other collectibles (sports cards, coins, comics) but not so much with records…. Some Dallas based collectors and record shop owners (Josey Records and Music) have come together to form a new company that specializes in grading (numerically, as opposed to Goldmine Standard) and encapsulating records so that their condition remains unchanged (until or unless the case is opened).
What are your thoughts? Unnecessary? Just part of vinyls growth as a medium, a means to separate high end collectors from those who collect to listen?
