A couple of weeks ago we shared the wallpaper install for this guest room refresh! We now have furniture in and some decor! We will be adding more art and small details to finish the space out! Also, if you peeped just the one curtain panel, don’t worry….we ordered two but only one has arrived 🧐

What’s your favorite detail so far?

Why does AI still get colors wrong?

Because it’s making decisions based on photos, and photos don’t tell the whole story.

A recent client wanted a rich chocolate brown paint color. AI recommended Garrett Gray.

The issue? Garrett Gray is actually a gray with warm undertones that can sometimes read purple depending on the lighting and surrounding finishes.

What AI couldn’t see:
✔️ The true undertones of the flooring
✔️ How the room’s lighting changes throughout the day
✔️ How the paint would interact with the existing finishes
✔️ Real-world color behavior that only comes from experience

AI is an incredible tool, and I use it in my business all the time.

But when it comes to paint colors, there is still no substitute for seeing a space in person and understanding how colors behave in real life.

Have you ever painted a room and ended up with a completely different color than you expected?

I met a client at the ‘Texas Counter Fitters’ showroom in Richardson, Texas a couple weeks ago to choose slabs for a kitchen remodel. WOW!! They have an amazing inventory with so many beautiful slabs!! We worked with Isabel and she was so friendly and so knowledgeable!! I cannot wait to share what we picked and pictures of the finished project!!

What most people see:
➡️ Gray

What we see:
➡️ Blue-gray
➡️ Green-gray
➡️ Purple-gray
➡️ Warm gray
➡️ Cool gray
➡️ Gray that’s definitely going to look lavender at 5:00 PM

Paint color is one of the biggest decisions in a home because it touches every room, every piece of furniture, and every finish. And while paint samples might all look the same at the store, lighting, flooring, countertops, and even the direction your windows face can completely change how a color looks in your home.

So yes, we spend a lot of time staring at paint samples… and honestly, we’re not mad about it. 😅

Which one gets you every time: gray, white, or beige?

This bathroom said “I could be a luxury spa” and honestly… we agreed 🤎🌿😂

Current progress on this primary bathroom remodel in Plano, TX:

✨ Doors reframed to 8’ tall to better fit the 12’ ceilings
✨ Custom vanity
✨ Custom linen closet
✨ Built-in tub replaced with a freestanding tub
✨ Shower squared off for a cleaner layout
✨ New tile throughout

We’re leaning fully into the dark, earthy, moody vibe for this one!

“After” photos coming soon!

For our clients who believe furniture should have a little personality ✨

is opening in Dallas on May 22 and we’re honestly excited for all the whimsical-design lovers out there 😂

One thing we’ve always loved about Joybird is how customizable everything is. Fun fabrics, unique colors, different configurations… it’s basically for people who don’t want their house to look like they ordered “Living Room Set A” off the internet. I know this is starting to sound like a paid advertisement but we seriously just love this company.

And the best part? Our clients can finally try everything in person before buying instead of making a blind commitment based on 3 online photos and pure optimism.

Before this, the closest showroom was in Austin, so Dallas finally getting one feels like a win for anyone who loves collected, personality-filled spaces 👏

Went to HomeGoods for a client and left with… nothing.

But this is the part people don’t always see,
good design isn’t about filling a space as fast as possible or grabbing “good enough” pieces just to check a box.

It’s about editing. Waiting. Walking away when it’s not quite right.

Because when the right piece shows up, you don’t question it.

(Still… would’ve loved at least one win 🥲)
