July 7, 2025, Torrential rains triggered catastrophic flash floods in Kerrville and surrounding areas over the July 4 weekend, claiming at least 82 lives across Central Texas, including 68 in Kerr County alone. Among the deceased are 28 children, according to The Guardian news.

The Guadalupe River surged over 26 feet in under 45 minutes, sweeping through neighborhoods, roads, and campsites. “Search teams plodded through mud-laden riverbanks and flew aircraft over vast swaths of water, looking for dozens still missing,” reported Reuters.

Tragedy struck Camp Mystic, a historic girls’ summer camp near Hunt, where at least 27 campers and staff died, and 11 remain missing, including 10 girls and one counselor, according to The Wall Street Journal. Camp director Dick Eastland was among the victims, having reportedly died while trying to rescue campers.

More than 850 people were rescued using boats, helicopters, and drones, according to Reuters. President Trump has declared a federal disaster, pledging aid and resources for recovery.

Officials and community leaders have vowed to investigate possible delays in warnings and improve preparedness. “This is one of the darkest moments in Hill Country history,” Kerr County officials said in a public statement.

July 3, 2025; Lions Clubs International has proudly nominated District 2-X1 for the 2024–2025 Jesse Robinson Membership Growth Cup, one of the organization’s most prestigious honors. This global award, named after Jesse Robinson, the first international president from outside the U.S. recognizes districts with the highest net membership growth.

District 2-X1, under the dynamic leadership of District Governor Radhakrishna Kaphle, has achieved the top membership growth across Constitutional Area 1 (CA1), which includes the United States, Bermuda, the Bahamas, and affiliated territories. With 70 Clubs and 2,270 members as of July 1, 2025, District 2-X1 stands out among 238 districts and nearly 260,000 members in CA1.

CA1 comprises 44 Multiple Districts and 9,820 Clubs, with Texas (Multiple District 2) leading the region with 753 clubs, the highest in CA1, followed by California (MD-4) with 640 clubs.

This nomination is a testament to District 2-X1’s commitment to service, innovative recruitment, and unity in purpose. It marks a historic milestone and a proud moment for all its clubs and volunteers, showcasing the power of visionary leadership and collective effort within the world’s largest service organization.

9th Annual Foot Pursuit Fun Run

Corinth, TX – The Corinth Police Department and the Corinth Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (CCPAAA) successfully organized the 9th Annual Foot Pursuit 5K Fun Run today at Lake Dallas High School.

The event drew hundreds of enthusiastic runners and walkers from the local community. With strong volunteer support from individuals and organizations, the fun run promoted community engagement, fitness, and public safety awareness. Participants of all ages enjoyed a morning filled with energy, unity, and encouragement for a healthier lifestyle.

The Lake Cities Chamber of Commerce, a strong advocate for local businesses in Corinth, Hickory Creek, Lake Dallas, and Shady Shores, participated in the Weekly Networking Coffee event hosted by Millennium Place Apartments in Corinth on Wednesday.
The event brought together several Chamber members and community well-wishers. Millennium Place, a beautifully designed apartment complex with 228 units and a wide range of amenities, currently boasts an impressive 85% occupancy, according to Property Manager Natassia Nash.
