Okay, friends, this is the last preview for this week—and goodness, by this point, I am reminded that I sure do love books more than social media! 😂 It just feels so loud around here most days. 🙃😬
So, before I go find quiet rest for the weekend 🥰, let me first say HAPPY INDEPENDENT BOOKSHOP DAY (on Saturday)! I am SO GRATEFUL to be a part of this little world of book-loving people, who care deeply about the written word and the power of stories…and invest their time and resources in building home libraries and sharing stories of all kinds with your people.
And of course, let me also say that LOTS of history books, including all the titles and series pictured here, have been RESTOCKED! Find all of these and more in the online shoppe FRIDAY, 4/25, at 3:00 PM CST!

As a mom of many, who works in multiple different ways—I can fill every waking minute of my time VERY easily, as I’m sure can be said for many of you. So it feels like I have to carve in rest time, not to sleep, necessarily—but to let my mind simply slow down and savor.
So guess what one of my favorite “downtime combos” is? Books + Puzzles + Tea = True Quiet Rest for my heart and mind. 📚🧩☕️ It honestly feels like luxury when I can spend an afternoon or evening with these three, because time seems to slow wayyyy down.
So if there’s anything I want to share on the “shelves” of my shoppe, it’s tools to help YOU and YOUR family slow down and savor the power of a story and the joy of an unplugged activity.

Well, if you can’t tell, our little bookshop is catching up this month! We have had stacks and stacks of such delightful books, just patiently waiting for me to find time to share them with you! And I have been determined to move these treasures from storage to shoppe shelves!

I picked a song for this post called “Precious Moments” on purpose…because goodness, I TREASURE the era when these picture books were our daily diet! The years when so much was discovered in the lap of a parent and in the pages of these books. 🥹🤍

The online store is buzzing with BEAUTIFUL book stacks being added by the minute! And it was a long overdue restock for sure. 🥰

Wowwww, was this place a MESS!! 🫣😬🫠 I certainly did not finish March up with an award for tidiest bookshop. But, nevertheless, here we are at April, which is the time for FAIRY TALES to take center stage at the Story Shoppe! I just did a big restock today, with some beautiful copies of various tales, including beautifully illustrated classics, as well as lesser-known and hard-to-find tales from around the world.
And if you’re not a fairy tale reader? Never fear! Any of these are FANTASTIC starters to introduce your family to the adventures inside. As spring comes, it’s the perfect time for the inspiration to see the world in imaginative ways!
As Tolkien himself says, “the realm of fairy-story is wide and deep and high and filled with many things: all manner of beasts and birds are found there; shoreless seas and stars uncounted; beauty that is an enchantment, and an ever-present peril; both joy and sorrow as sharp as swords.” 🤩🏰🦄🐉👑🌟

I can hardly believe it’s time for this…but SPRING has officially come to YELLOW HOUSE at Cottonwood Market! 💛🌷🐣☔️🌈☘️
As of today, my local shoppe is stocked full of everything March + April, including St. Patrick’s Day, Easter, spring picture books, plus sweet vintage spring nature books! And don’t miss our beautiful new SPRING PUZZLES and WATERCOLOR BOOKS for all of your Easter baskets and spring celebrations!
I hope this new season brings so much joy, life, and family fun for each of you. As much as I love winter, I’m definitely looking forward to new flowers blooming, new spring weather (including the rainy days for reading), and all of the family time ahead!
As always, I appreciate your continued sweet support for our little shoppe! So many of you have shared it with friends and it means so much. 💕

Not only are VALENTINE’S books new to the shoppe today…but there are also some fun new products and (finally) a few new book-friendly shelves! 🎉
More coming SOON about some fun additions we are making to the shoppe, but for now, enjoy these sneak peeks of a few things that make reading and learning even more fun! NEW this month are:

What could be better on a cold post-Christmas day than a stack of wintry books on their way? ❄️☃️🌨️

I know we are not all completely out of Christmas mode (and rightly so!) but with the weather turning this week toward winter, and our eyes turning toward a new year coming, it felt like the right time to roll out the WINTER BOOKS! It’s never too early to get prepared for those snowy, wintry, too-cold-to-do-anything-else days ahead, right?! These winter book stacks are the perfect way to savor the season ahead!

Plus, what a perfect way to refill the holiday basket and bookshelf as the Christmas season ends!

And I happen to think that seasonal reading is truly some of the best, most enduring kinds of family memories—and can truly be fun for all ages, while also covering every subject! Read about the changes in nature or the shape of snowflakes for science, or the times in history when winter was hard. Read winter poetry or learn the calendar and seasons through beautifully illustrated books! Or simply snuggle up by the fire with a stack of wonderful picture books or a family read-aloud.
