This is a hob

by for me, as it's always been something that I enjoy doing. I enjoy this so much that I'm also a "middle-(wo)man" for anyone that has items that they would like to sell, but don't have the time to set up a sale. I love to help people earn $$$ as much as save $$$.

When you find treasures in the most unlikely of places, like this vintage 1920s postcard "Greetings from Linn, MO" in an antique store in Olathe, KS, it's the most funnest.

What's so unique about this little gem? A few things...I lived in Central MO for over 30 years, nearby there. So, it's familiar to me. This postcard had been well kept, as it's in very good condition for it's age. Mailing a postcard to someone special was a form of invitation to come visit that town or to spend time with them, as well as a collective memory to keep.
After some research, the artist C. Klien, also known as Catharina Klien, was a German painter who's featured work was fruits and florals. Her work was used as illustrations in books, typography and lithographs, even after her death in 1929.

Postcards with her work are actually highly sought after, as it is reported that many of her paintings were lost or destroyed in WWII, because they were housed in Berlin. These postcards are a traveling tribute to her works.

It was 1942 & this book "Mrs. Appleyard's Kitchen" was published, that I found at a little place along the way while on my Shop Hop while in MO. This is a true treasure right here. It's in very good condition despite it's age. But the best part...only $2.50. Which was actually the original publish price for this 319 page book.

This book was written to be read like a book, as well as to be utilized for cooking. Her story on how she came to write this book and others is more than just practical. She's quite the spit fire.

The Author, Louise Andrews Kent has written multiple cookbooks that are now on my TBR Collectible List.
