Started these 3 before spring break and got them across the finish line last night. Details are below.

1. Monogram 1956 Chevy Street Machine (Ollie’s kit). Finished in Tropical Glitz wildfire candy over a black primer and silver base all under a Mr. Hobby flat clear. Added a racing seat, racing harness, a set of 3D wheels and tires and a hood scoop printed by yours truly. Decals were donated by the spares box.

2. Moebius 1965 Mercury Comet BF/X. Finished in Scale Finishes Ford CN Code Orange all under a Mr. Hobby flat clear. Kit decals were used.

3. Revell Stranger Things 1979 Camaro. Finished in Scale Finishes Open Water Gray under a Mr. Hobby flat clear. I built this as a Z28 (see attached inspiration pic) and used kit decals. Used some 3D printed rally wheels from MCV. By the way, this kit is a 3-1 and allows you to build it stock, racing, and street machine like the older issue. Plenty of spare parts after you choose your route.

Worked all last night after returning from Atlantacon and most of the day today organizing my attic for my kits and other show related items. I then turned my attention to my spray booth setup. Long story short, I had a birthday recently and my wife gave me the green light to get a new airbrush booth. After searching and weighing the pros and cons of a ton of options, I decided to adapt my current setup. I bought what is basically a grow fan and filter set from Amazon and vented it into the attic as I had before. Added a slot for a filter, reworked the back of the frame to accept a 4” magnetic dryer plate, and the rest was just good ole fashioned elbow grease and multiple adjustments. I think I have the right setup for me now. Pictured is the entire setup, setup with light, the light I use, and the filter alongside a quart of Duplicolor paint for comparison. Model on y’all!

I’ve had some people ask how I do my rust effects and I’m finally ready to spill the beans. I’ve tried it all- the salt technique, white glue, sanding through the color coat, etc. and I’ve found what works for me. I picked these sponges up from Publix for less than 2 bucks. Dab on some craft acryllic paint (raw umber, burnt sienna, marigold yellow are my go-to colors). See pics. Model on y’all!

I recently completed the Revell 1939 Chevy Sedan Delivery. This is a 1:24 kit that hails from the older Monogram line. These kits are known for the moderate part count, great fitment, and yet a relatively good amount of detail. This one is finished in Mocha Mettalic and Olympus White both from Scale Finishes. I finished it with 2K clear. Model on!

I recently finished another AMT 1960 Ford F-100. I weathered this one after applying Scale Finishes Signal Yellow basecoat for the cab and bed while applying Scale Finishes light blue to the hood. This truck almost ended before it got started. As I was attempting to make the cab appear to be battered and structurally questionable, I accidentally burned entirely through the driver door. I’ve attached pics but had to do some repair work to get it back to somewhat believable. All the weathering is on top of the yellow and blue basecoat and accomplished using the sponge technique with a variety of craft acrylic colors. Oil washes, dry brushing, and panel liner washes of multiple colors complete the look. Model on y’all!
