There’s something about walking over to your own window and harvesting what you grew with your own hands 🌿

This morning it was parsley, green onions, and oregano… nothing fancy, nothing Pinterest-perfect… just real life on the farm.

I didn’t think something this small would feel like such a win, but it does.
Fresh herbs, sunlight coming through the window, and a quiet moment before the day starts.

Learning as I go, growing what I can, and finding little pieces of peace wherever I can.

Handmade Charger Covers ✨

Because let’s be honest… all these cords look the SAME and somehow still disappear 🙄

If you’ve got kids with MacBook chargers, you already know the struggle.
They all look identical… and somehow your kid’s charger ends up in someone else’s backpack. Every. Time.

I started making these to protect mine AND make them easy to identify, and now I’m a little obsessed.

✔️ Reinforced & wrapped by hand
✔️ Helps prevent fraying/breaking
✔️ Easy to spot (no more “that’s not mine” arguments)
✔️ Actually cute instead of boring white cords

Each one is handmade by me, so no two are exactly the same 💛

💲 $15 (you provide your cord)
➕ Want me to supply the cord? I can, just message me for pricing based on your device

Limited availability, message me to claim one or request a custom color combo 👀

Today I poured something a little different… not just wax, but love, memory, and quiet intention. 🕯️

This candle was made for someone very dear to me, a best friend who lost their mom on December 2, 2024. There are no perfect words for that kind of loss, so I let my hands do what my heart couldn’t fully say.

Every step was done with care… every stir, every pour, every moment held with intention. A soft, comforting scent to fill the space where silence sometimes feels too loud. A steady flame to remind them that love doesn’t leave, it just changes form.

Her light shines through them every single day… in the way they carry themselves, in the strength they don’t even realize they have, and in the love they continue to give despite the loss.

This one isn’t for sale.
This one is for remembrance. For comfort. For the kind of love that never really goes away.

If you’ve ever lost someone, you understand…
Grief and love live side by side. And sometimes, a small light can carry both. 🖤

If you’re looking for something meaningful like this, I do offer custom candles by request, made with intention, care, and a scent that tells your story.

🥚 Water-Glassing Eggs for Long-Term Storage

Yesterday must have been egg day around here because the girls were busy! When we have more eggs than we can use right away, I like to preserve them using an old-fashioned method called water-glassing.

This method has been used for generations to keep fresh, unwashed eggs shelf-stable for months.

Here’s how I do it:

1️⃣ Start with fresh, unwashed eggs (the natural bloom protects them).
2️⃣ Mix pickling lime and distilled water in a clean container.
3️⃣ Place eggs gently in a large jar or crock.
4️⃣ Pour the lime water mixture over them until completely covered.
5️⃣ Store in a cool, dark place.

The lime solution seals the shell and helps prevent bacteria from entering, allowing eggs to stay usable for many months.

When you’re ready to use them, just rinse and crack like normal. I usually save these for baking or cooking later in the year when the hens slow down.

Nothing fancy here, just a simple homestead trick to make the most of what the chickens give us.

Tools I use for this:
• large mason jars https://amzn.to/3NnObFK
• pickling lime https://amzn.to/4dsA9Nv
• distilled water
• dissolvable jar labels for dating https://amzn.to/41a4JEd

If you raise chickens, this is a great way to store up the abundance during peak laying season.

Anyone else still using the old methods their grandparents used? 🐔

The Story Behind Pumpkindoodles Cottage

About 13 years ago I was just a tired mom trying to solve a problem.

Both of my kids were struggling with eczema and sensitive skin. Every soap and body wash we tried seemed to make things worse. Labels said “gentle,” but their skin told a different story.

So I started doing what moms tend to do when nothing else works, I started researching, experimenting, and learning how to make my own soap.

At first it wasn’t about starting a business. It was about helping my kids feel comfortable in their own skin again. I began learning about ingredients, what actually nourishes skin, and what should stay far away from it.

Little by little, our kitchen turned into a tiny workshop. Batches of soap, simple balms, and skin-friendly products started filling the counters. What began as a solution for my own family slowly turned into something friends and neighbors started asking for too.

That small beginning eventually grew into Pumpkindoodles Cottage.

Today the heart behind it is still the same as it was all those years ago:
simple, thoughtful products made with care, inspired by real life and real needs.

Because sometimes the best ideas don’t start in a boardroom.

They start with a mom trying to make things a little better for the people she loves.

I had a few people message me after a comment earlier about cleaning products, so I figured I’d introduce myself.

I run a small local homestead brand called Pumpkindoodles Cottage and make small-batch handmade soaps, laundry soap, and plant-based cleaning products.
Everything is made in small batches and many scents can be customized.

Right now I have:
• Handmade bath soaps
• Laundry soap
• Mop soap / floor wash (non-sticky formula)
• Linen and counter sprays

I also make zero-waste scrubbing pads and reusable mop covers as an alternative to disposable cleaning products. They’re made from durable cotton yarn, can be used wet or dry, and when they get dirty you simply toss them in the washing machine and reuse them again and again. They fit many common spray mop systems and work great for everyday cleaning while helping cut down on household waste. Perfect for anyone trying to keep their home clean while being a little kinder to the environment.

If anyone is looking for locally made products instead of store brands, feel free to message me and I’ll be happy to help.
I’m just getting started sharing locally so I appreciate the support!
