I recently had a customer ask me to explain why three seams are needed for the backing of a Queen size quilt. Unless you use 108" wide backing fabric, you need three pieces of 44" wide fabric. Here is a visual for reference. Note that you will trim 14" off of the width of one piece. 1/2" seam allowance is recommended.

It's February and the contest is now under way. Keep in mind, this is a judged contest, based primarily on design, rather than skill (although skill is a small percentage of the criteria). The Official end date will be May 20th. Why that date? HMMM who can tell me in the comments?
