It has been a year since we posted about our Blue Porterweed. It is one of the most dependable perennials for pollinators and usually in full bloom in August. Keep in mind that it will get big-maybe 4', so give it plenty of room in the garden. If you grow it, the butterflies will come.
We have quite a few great plants on board for this weekend- Cranberry Hibiscus, Jamaican Sorrel, lemon grass, 8 kinds of hot peppers, milkweed, culinary herbs, vegetable plants and annual flowers.
Stop by and shop with us on Sat or Sun 9-2 @ 11050 Lakeshore Drive, Clermont.

Oh, sweet Butterfly pea... a real customer favorite! Beautiful deep blue flowers on vigorous climbing vines. They are able to climb 10-15' in a season, easily covering a trellis or fence area. The colorful flowers can be used to make blue tea, or natural food coloring. We are growing a nice double blue variety, and a single lavender, and coming soon- double white. Quite a few are loaded up for this weekend's sales "on the hill".
Also, this week, we have a large selection of hot peppers and the lemon grass is awesome. Of course, herbs and annuals are in good supply.
Stop by and shop with us on Sat or Sun 9-2 @ 11050 Lakeshore Drive, Clermont.

Today's post doesn't showcase plants... it shines a light on Moose. Most of our followers who have shopped with us "on the hill" are aware of our brown Border Collie. He watches everything from the doorway of our camper. Although he is pretty shy, he does have a few special friends- both human and canine. He had a birthday this past week and turned 10. He is a senior boy now, but he is a beautifully trained working stock dog, so when he is home at the farm, he is ready to herd our sheep.
When you stop by to shop this weekend, if he isn't watching from the doorway, ask for him... he's probably resting inside in the AC- we'll be glad to call him out...and of course, we need to remind everybody that we have quite a few interesting flowers and herbs loaded up on our sales wagons. So, after you've petted Moose, check out what's for sale. Sat and Sun 9-2 @ 11050 Lakeshore Drive, Clermont.

Our vacation is over and we are busy loading the wagons for a rainy weekend "on the hill". So many plants have matured and come ready these past four weeks, that it's hard to choose what to load. Annuals, perennials, veggies and herbs... hopefully we have something for everyone.
Our featured plant for this week is Aji Dulce- a sweet seasoning pepper, popular around the Caribbean and Central America. ...especially loved by Puerto Rican cooks for making so frito. We have had them for sale occasionally over the years, but now we are happy to report there is a nice big crop.
Stop by and shop with us on Sat or Sun 9-2 (even if you have to "run between the raindrops" as Grandma used to say) @ 11050 Lakeshore Drive, Clermont.

As the hot summer days roll on, one perennial stands tall and proud in the sunny garden. This is Rudbeckia Hirta- better known as Black-eyed Susan. They are looking so good this week, and when we return to sales next Saturday, they will be one of our featured flowers. We loved the wild ones at the edge of our family cow pasture in Pennsylvania. They are the state flower of Maryland. The Native Americans used the roots medicinally. This is a great plant for the pollinator garden.
As our vacation winds down this week, we find that there are MANY flowers and herbs ready to sell. It will be hard to choose which ones to load on the wagons when we come back. We've missed the "garden talk" with our loyal customers this July... and are looking forward to resuming sales on "the hill".
We think Moose has missed his special friends, as well. ...see you soon.
