Happy Earth Day! Did you know the term "Earth Day" was coined by advertising executive Julian Koenig? Koenig was the author of many famous catchphrases, including "Timex: It takes a licking and keeps on ticking" and Volkswagen's "Think Small" and "Lemon." Earth Day happens to fall on his birthday, and he liked the rhyme.

Fun fact: our compostable to-go containers from EcoMontana are oven safe up to 450 degrees! Polystyrene isn't. It's bad for our health, never breaks down in our environment, and isn't made in the US. Urge the committee to vote YES on HB 477!

We offer a convenient compost bucket drop off location at the Real Food Market & Deli for our customers in bear country. It's all about keeping it green and letting the animals live in peace!

It’s that time of year! When you’re done enjoying your Christmas tree, give the Boy Scouts a call and help them create fish habitat.

We will pick up in Helena, the Helena Valley and East Helena areas.

Note: The City of Helena and Tri-County Disposal will not be picking up trees any longer, but we've got you covered!

The trees are used for a fish habitat conservation project at Canyon Ferry Lake. The Scouts transport the trees there and help the MT Fish, Wildlife & Parks prepare them for the lake.

Tree pickups will be on Saturdays - December 28, January 4, and January 11, between 9 am and 3 pm.

Suggested donation for the service is $10.

We recently received this question from a compost customer: "I have a wood-burning fireplace insert, and I have a bucket full of ash every week when I’m actively burning. Could you use that? I added about about 1/8 cup to my compost and really noticed the difference in the odor."

Our answer? Yes! If you're heating your home with wood or wood pellets this winter, ash makes a great addition to your compost bucket. It's also an easy and free additive for your garden that you can add to your beds all winter long. Check out more about ash and gardening at the link below!
