Do you Know:
Early childhood exposure to trauma goes unrecognized often. While this is the case, children are growing into adults that deal with altered brain development and chronic health issues to severe psychological and social struggles throughout their lifetime. Results of these early exposure experiences some times impair focus, decision making, and learning. Experiencing Early Childhood Trauma significantly raises the risk of developing conditions such as depression, anxiety, and PTSD. In situations like this you will witness children also having challenges with displays of heightened aggression, bouts of sleeplessness, or struggles with the ability to regulate their emotions. Episodes of stress responses can weaken a child's immune system and alter their hormonal stress-response systems. While it is not impossible to overcome, there are many adults who have experienced early childhood exposure to trauma, they have expressed that it is difficult to form stable, trusting relationships as adults.
