I’m working on a Randall T2 head this eve 🤙. It came in sounding no bueno. It sounds like digital clipping oddly enough. Once I opened it up to test some voltages I discovered that the B+ positive rail of the bipolar supply is missing. Turns out an electrolytic exploded. After replacing that I can see if the rail and power transistors are still bueno! 🤘 Nick Peraino

I just finished fixing this little guy up. I say little guy, but this is one loud Amp! The impedance selector switch was wired incorrectly, one of the power tubes was not drawing any current, and the bias adjustment was out of range.

It has a new matched pair of EL34, is biased correctly, and is screaming loud now that th output transformer secondary is wired correctly.

Pretty neat when a stranger reaches out saying “I just bought an amp on reverb and think it was built by you.”

I designed and assembled these amps circa 2009, it’s not a copy. Only 5 were made. Hand wired, point-to-point, 2 channels, FX loop, switchable tube/Solid state rectifier, switchable plate voltage and wattage, 2 6L6 and 2 6V6 power pentodes.

This was a 3 yr project and incredible amounts of time and attention went into the design and building process. To see this picture, which they sent me, makes me proud of the work I did… as I’m not sure I’d have the patience for it now (😅) … very neat internal wiring layout. This is amp packs a punch and has very little noise.

And hey, 15 yrs later and it still works!! 😂

I’m still on this journey… the journey to producing 100 of these: a completely unique redesign of the tube guitar amplifier. There are many variables that I’ve meditated, or thought obsessively about, that make me super inspired to follow through on this project. There isn’t an amp on the market like it! I truly believe it will change the way that the big guys manufacture guitar amplifiers.

-lightweight and portable
-heat mitigatation
-vibration mitigation
-point to point wiring: cheap and easy to maintain/repair
-2 tubes total yet 60W of power at 4 ohms
-2 tubes: Because tubes ain’t cheap, so why pay for em when silicon devices can accomplish certain tasks better for pennies on the dollar.

Got an Egnater Renegade 65 in with a dysfunctional foot switch. The amp won’t switch channels with the foot switches, but will switch with the front panel button.

Doing some mods to a Silverface Twin Reverb. Customer would like the amp to have some warmth and more harmonic content at lower volumes. Who woulda thought‽ 😅

Swapping 2 of the 6L6 power tubes with 6V6 tubes. I love how good these sound after this mod. These amps tend to be way too loud, too clean, and too dang heavy!
