Whew! It's been a while, but I'm back with another project. This is a Conn 20I euphonium with a detachable forward-facing bell and short action piston valves that I've been slowly restoring to playing condition. Today was dent day -- there were several dents 1/4" or deeper and as long as 3" in the bell that had to be slowly worked out so as not to stretch and crease the metal. The tenon receiver was also badly dented, preventing the bell from seating properly. It's not perfect yet, but it's much closer! Tomorrow I'm cleaning, and then picking up some parts from a fellow tech's bin to complete the horn and I'll finally get to see how it plays!

Started the morning off right with some coffee and replacing a couple of trombone waterkey corks. If ever there was a job for a lazy Sunday morning, this would be the one!

I wish I had a better before picture, but I'm loving this transformation! This is my new personal tuba, a BMB 845SP. It spent most of its life as a demo horn, so after I got through with it, it might as well be new! In addition to the very obvious polish, I had some tuning slide work, ergonomic adjustments, and a full clean to top it off.

Today's big project: building a portable workbench that I can set up in my house at school. Started with three small boards, assembled to fold in to the size of one. Then drilled some holes for tools and we were in business! My rawhide mallet handle is a bit of an odd shape, so I had to do a little extra work with the Dremel to open it up a bit. Voila! A complete workbench that could fit in my backpack.

Made some much needed mods to my own bass trombone cass today! I recently purchased a new (to me) Conn 72H which has a rather small bell section, and a very long slide that many hard cases can't accommodate. I've cut out some of the foam for better fit, replaced the fabric, and installed this nice velcro strap to keep everything from moving around. Giving the new case its first road test this weekend!
