Looks like Calf Watch 2026 is back on! 43 days ago we were able to purchase a bred heifer from Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. Told ourselves it would be a few months before she actually calved. Yesterday it looked like she was bagging up but today we can say for sure another calf is on its way!

Calf Watch 2026 was over last week, but didn't want to call it until we actually got to see the last calf. Brazoria has had us out in the weather all week looking for her and her baby. Today she finally decided to bring HER out of hiding and it was worth it 😍 She only stayed long enough to grab a couple of cubes and let us get a couple of pics before she headed back into the brush.

Day 73 of Calf Watch 2026. It took us almost an hour of driving around to find Brazoria. Before she walked out of the brush she kept looking over her shoulder. Was hopeful she already calved, but not quite yet.

Because someone needs to learn how to use the record feature again, all we have to show, is this 3 second video of our 2 heifers we got from Oklahoma joining the rest of the herd. This was the smoothest adding of new stock to our herd we have had so far. No head butting or bullying. A few sniffs from the alpha, Liberty Belle and their bull, Concho, and that was it. Then all of the commenced to eating grass.
The 4 we split off from the main herd a few weeks ago, will get moved to their new pasture tomorrow. We also took the time to split the remaining herd into 2 today. Once it dries out enough to get the fencing done, we will move one of these herds as well. The best news, all 3 of our young bulls, Tarrant, Concho and Brewster, have been separated and now have their own herds.

We aren't up and riding yet, but progress is progress. BTW Duncan, didn't let me sit on him, he needs more work
