The dirty side of the resale business doesn’t show up in the pictures.
People see the cleaned-up item, the listing, the sale, and maybe the profit. What they don’t see is the pile of packaging, broken parts, bad boxes, junk cords, cracked plastic, dusty shelves, mystery bags, and things that looked promising but ended up being trash.
Running a home resale business means we save a lot of things from being wasted.
But it also means we deal with the waste.
Every week, there’s sorting. Cleaning. Testing. Breaking down boxes. Recycling what we can. Throwing away what can’t be saved. Some items get a second life. Some items become parts. Some items are just too far gone.
That’s the part nobody talks about.
Reselling is not just “buy low, sell high.” Sometimes it’s dirty hands, full trash bags, cluttered corners, and deciding what still has value and what doesn’t.
But that’s also the point.
A lot of the things people throw away still have use. A cord. A lid. A replacement part. An old tool. A piece from a machine nobody makes anymore.
We don’t save everything.
But we save more than most people would.
That’s the real work behind ChattownFlips.
