Quickly becoming one of my favorite darts.. Ranitomeya fantastica True Nominant’ are stunning, even has babies.

We don’t produce very many every year but every one we do is a show stopper.

Yes, I know it trendy to celebrate Star Wars day … but how many of you can say you were in a theater in 1977? How many of you drug your parents weekend after weekend to see it again and again?

Even better, who remembers listening to Star Wars on an 8 track tape?

Tiny, tiny pearls… not really.

We have been heavily spraying and beginning to flood the Gold Mantella (Mantella aurantiaca) habitat and they have given us a few eggs.

Even though it’s a small clutch, the fact the males are calling like crazy and we have six females in the group, we are hoping for a good year. We have a total of thirteen adults, so our group is a fairly good size.

Time will tell.. seem to be thinking that a lot lately.

Some times it’s the little things…

This little alien means several things. The first is that I correctly picked out a pair of frogs at Frog Fest. Two, is that the frogs enjoy (tolerate) each others company and the habitat I built for them. And most importantly is we not have the potential to produce Ranitomeya amazonica ‘Iquito’.

Yes, it’s silly to be excited as a lot of people breed ‘Iquito’ but it has long been one of my favorite thumbnail frogs, we just never got around to adding them to the collection.

Time will tell if it all works out.

When is an alligator not an Aligator??

When it is a Texas alligator lizard (Gerrhonotus infernalis) of course.

This young pair still has some growing to do, but is settling in nicely while they are still in quarantine.

These are not in the same genus as the more often thought of Abronia but the physical resemblance is unmistaken and why they have the same common name. As with everything, we will keep you updated on how they are doing.

Two more Ashy.. looking more Ashy.

Sphaerodactylus elegans go through such a change from their juvenile to adult coloration. This little one is about half way through that change. Colors in the tail not as bright and the bands becoming more separated are the two big changes you can see right now.
