Giving propagation a try 🌿

I’ve had so many ideas for things I’d love to propagate, so I figured I’d start small with a few of my houseplants.

And look at those little roots already. 🥹 There’s something so satisfying about watching a cutting start to become a whole new plant.

I have a feeling this is going to become another one of those things I get completely carried away with. 😂

What should I try next?

The pollinator gardens all over Blowing Rock stole my heart this week. Overflowing with color and filled with bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, I don’t think I could have admired them enough.

More than anything, though, I’m leaving grateful for this time together. We made so many sweet memories as a family, and I’m thankful we had the chance to slow down, explore, and simply be.

I’m heading home equal parts exhausted and inspired, with fresh ideas for our own little homestead and so much excitement for what’s ahead.

I can’t wait to share more from this beautiful week. 🌿🐝🤍

Spider mites. 🫠

Last year they took out a significant number of my dahlias, and this year I’ve realized they’re everywhere. I’m pretty convinced the azaleas we inherited with the property were ground zero, and the heat and drought have only made things worse.

Every time I plant something new, it feels like they’re already waiting. It’s enough to make you want to cry...or throw in the towel. 😅

So today I called in the SWAT team...beneficial predatory mites! Some are my rapid-response team, while others are there for long-term prevention.

My goal has always been to grow organically and build a healthy ecosystem, so I’m hopeful these tiny helpers can help restore the balance.

Here’s to letting nature do what it does best. I’ll keep you posted. 🌿🌸

Some things are simply good for the soul.

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about what I want Petunia to become. Somewhere along the way, I realized I never want the thing that brought me so much joy to become the very thing that steals it.

So I’m choosing to slow down. To create with intention. To focus less on growing more and more on growing meaningfully.

Petunia is quietly evolving into something that feels even more like home.

More than a flower farm... a botanical studio.

Boutique. Intentional. A little unexpected.

I have so many ideas growing behind the scenes, and I can’t wait to share them with you one season at a time.

I have a feeling this next chapter is going to be my favorite yet. 🤍

It’s been a little quiet around here lately. 🌿

May and June have a way of filling every corner of the calendar with school wrapping up, birthdays, holidays, and all the beautiful chaos that comes with the start of summer. Somewhere along the way, social media took a back seat.

I’ve been soaking up time with my family, spending long days in the garden getting dahlias and other beauties planted (fashionably late 😅), finding little pockets of creativity in the studio, and slowly settling back into a rhythm.

I’m looking forward to sharing more again. More of what’s growing, what’s being created, and the little moments that make this season so special.

Thank you for being here. I’m grateful you’ve stuck around. 💛

Currently learning something new, making a mess, and loving the process. 😍
