I spent the morning and early afternoon at the George Bono swap meet. It was great to visit with so many fellow model railroaders I hadn’t seen in some time.

This was a PRIVATE EVENT hosted by a modeler, attended by mostly long time hobby friends . The host provided tables for a handful of sellers, a lunch for the attendees and there was a great deal of conversation.

After leaving at the Lewis County Fair, I stopped by the TRAIN CENTER.
Kirk Holmes and his grandson were present and I made a small purchase.
Kirk says he’ll keep going for awhile, he continues to deal with health issues.

A customer of the store was employed by TOTE , Totem Ocean Trailer Express, now Tote Maritime.
The company has two roro ships operating between Tacoma, Wa and Anchorage, Al. It operates a fleet of trucks and trailers.
He sent photos to Walthers and they produced this HO trailer.
We had lunch at the RAM on the Tacoma waterfront on Wednesday and saw a TOTE ship coming into port.

I entered a small display of HO and N scale freight cars comparing their sizes and featuring the major railroads that operated in Lewis County.
NP, GN, UP, MILW RD, BN, BNSF.
It earned a BLUE ribbon in the Collections category.

Sandy earned a major award in the
Art department with her mosaic Salmon Ella.

I grew up on a small berry farm and I have always grown vegetables and berries. While I grew cacti in Arizona, I missed having a northwest garden.
Since returning to Western Washington, I have spent much more time working in the yard and garden than model railroading.
Sandy and I attended the Southwest Washington Fair last year and I decided to enter some items from my garden.
6 agricultural items, 2 floral items.
While not earning any major awards,
I did earn 8 BLUE RIBBONS.
Largest pumpkin, Jack O Lantern Pumpkin, Ornamental Pumpkin, Largest Zucchini, Zucchini, Patty Pan Squash. Outdoor Potted Fuchsia, Outdoor potted succulent.
I was a learning experience and we are looking forward to participating in the Pierce County Fair and possibly Puyallup next year.
