Plastic Carpet Ride

We found this little fella hanging out no where near milkweed this morning. So we had to show it a, whole new world, of milkweed in another greenhouse! We have found so many monarch caterpillars this week so watch for some on plants at your own house! And if you want some stop in down and grab some milkweed you may just find one tagging along back home with you!

Happy Tomato 🍅 Tuesday!

Today’s tomato is the Wisconsin 55! Developed in the 40s by John Walker at the University of Wisconsin Maddison. Meant to handle the shorter growing season found in much of the state this tomato is great for any northern garden. With medium sized great tasting fruits that are perfect for slicing, they have a great balanced sweet flavor! It also is resistant to cracking and most common garden diseases.

Sunday Funday!

Don’t let the rain this morning scare you away, this afternoon is calling for clear skies and some beautiful flowers calling your name in our garden.

Come make a custom bouquet for yourself or a loved one to enjoy as we head into a new week!

We’ve got Zinnias, Cosmos, Asters. The Strawflowers, Snapdragons, and Dahlias are beginning to bloom just for you!

First Time Fridays!

Today we have Verbena Buenos Aires!
While we have had the tall form of verbena before and did this year, next spring we plan on growing a new variety that is hardy to zone 4! These beautiful plants will get between 2-3 feet tall with clusters of beautiful purple blooms on the end of stalks. These blooms attract lots of pollinators including monarchs, other butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds! We do still have some of an annual variety of this left so stop on down and grab some!

The next week is looking great weather wise to help get plants established! So if you are looking to add some nice perennials to your beds stop by the greenhouse where through next Sunday (8/16) all perennials will be 50% off! We still have lots to choose from and some nice trees to pick from as well, including this peach tree growing a delicious red haven peach!

Happy Tomato 🍅 Tuesday!

Today we have the ground cherry! This very cool addition to your garden is related to the tomato and tomatillo, it has a small sherry sized fruit that is surrounded but a papery husk, when it’s ripe the husk will turn brown and typically fall to the ground. Ground cherries tend to be sweeter than tomatoes with a taste similar to pineapples or apricots when not cooked. While we may be out of this one for the year let us know if you were able to get one and how you like them!

Its First Time Fridays!

Today we have XL Asters! These tall asters were bred for cut flowers but also make great additions to any garden. With a little bit of height these will give you a nice pop of color behind other plants! They dry very nicely making them perfect for dried flower arrangements. We have two colors left so stop down and get yourself some!

Due to a personal emergency we will be opening a little later today at 1.

When you do get here this afternoon check out our sunflowers! Most of them are at the perfect bloom time for grilling the heads to eat! There are many recipes online and it’s very yummy. Would you eat a grilled sunflower, how about other flowers?
