On Friday we held our last book fair.
Unfortunately we have decided to close Beruna Books at this time. We are so grateful for all of you who have supported us over the last year and a half. We’ve had so much fun getting to share some of our favorite books with you and are overwhelmed by the support we received. However, after many months of work, the Euharlee City Council decided to not move forward with our proposal for The Cottage. This was our 3rd attempt at a building and we were so disappointed at this decision. Ultimately, we have decided that it is no longer possible to run our mobile bookstore out of our small home. We did not come to this decision lightly; however, it has become clear to us that with no brick and mortar in sight, it’s time for us to make room for our next chapter.
We will be selling our remaining inventory online. And we are always a call or a text away for any of your children’s book related questions.
To our fellow bookstore owners, we wish you all of the best. You are doing difficult but important work that, let’s be honest, does not pay all that well…However, I leave you with these words from Jeff Deutsch in “In Praise of Good Bookstores”, “Good bookstores reflect their communities; exceptional bookstores both reflect and create their communities.” Keep up the good work.
