Marble King Caramel, Aka, Bear Claw. Likely intended as a gameball, imo. Believed to be pre-1990. Also, likely closely related to the Poorman’s Watermelon, generally of the same size. Not to be confused with the larger, newer run of Caramels. All I’ve ever found were dug. 99% of them hover around 9/16”.

An introduction for new followers. Let me take a moment to explain what some of The Marble Grading Company’s goals include.

#1) Educate
#2) Document
#3) Preserve marbles and the stories associated with them.

There are various individuals (some of whom possess exceptional expertise) and a select few auctions that evaluate and grade marbles, resulting in diverse outcomes. It is widely acknowledged that assessing the condition of a marble is a matter of personal interpretation. Our goal is to transform this subjective process into a scientific discipline, ultimately leading to greater market stability and removing the veil of mytery surrounding grading. It’s as simple as observing the marble and describing flaws. We simply take it a couple steps further by photographing them and describing it on a digital platform for all to see. The final step is securing its current grade and labeling the case with its own QR code for its video, and we add its tamper-resistant unique number.

We’re also aware that certain stakeholders may be hesitant to deviate from established practices. Not everyone likes the idea of a marble being in a case for display. This simply isn’t for them. This has been the trend for many categories of collectibles, and this hobby is no different.

Nonetheless, by integrating traditional criteria into our framework, we seek to establish a reliable, consistently repeatable foundation, rather than introducing sweeping changes. Our approach seamlessly blends tradition with a sensible, user-friendly methodology that is readily understandable, consistent, and repeatable. All the while building the world’s largest database. Thanks for joining and watching. We look forward to many years of posting marbles for you all to see! Direct message to have your marbles graded and encased!
