Re Richard: I started writing and creating in my early 20’s while I was in the Navy during the Vietnam War. I had hours on watch in which I could think and dream up stories, poems and inventions while nothing was going on. Later, I would write it all down so I could share it with my wife, who is still with me today. When I was young, I was told that my grandfather, who I never met, was a creativ

e inventor. Do you think, as I do, that creativity runs in families? When my three daughters were little, I would create stories especially for them. Pinky and Thunder, Royal Rhinos of Africa was one of those stories. Now, almost 50 years (3 children, 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren) later, I have finally succeeded in getting one of my stories into book form. What a wonderful feeling it is to be able to share one of my stories with the world. My hope is that children will not only find my book enjoyable, but will also discover that we were each created unique and that is okay to be different.

What a brilliant idea for those of us who don't have a Bluetooth speaker... or forget to charge theirs. What are your current favorite read-alouds?

This is my super high-tech audio book hack. 😎 I have a Bluetooth speaker but never remember to charge it, and now I can't find the cord. Did you know that putting your phone into a glass cup works pretty darn well to amplify sound? 😁👍🏻

Today's lunchtime for little people is accompanied by the audio version of Where Are You Going, Baby Lincoln? By Kate DiCamillo. When mama is cranky on a Monday, a little trip to Deckawoo Drive may possibly be the best solution. 😜

I actually prefer the paper copies of these books because the illustrations are so funny, but when I'm too tired and cranky to read them, the audio books are a close second. Can't get enough of them!
