To our incredible community of jam lovers,
This week marks Just Jan’s 14th anniversary. Wow! When I first started making jam from my backyard fig tree to put in sandwiches for my daughters’ school lunches, I never, in my wildest dreams, could imagine that this hobby would turn into Just Jan’s. It’s been 14 years of pinch-me moments. From the day I first saw my lemon curd on the shelves of Home Goods to collaborating with my long-time favorite cooking store, Williams Sonoma, it’s been a journey.
Growing up, I spent the summers in Hanford, California, with my second mom, Yvonne. We would get up in the morning and ride bikes around the farm, stopping only to collect fresh milk from her cows to make homemade ice cream. In the afternoon, we’d pick peaches, plums, and apricots from her fruit trees and head to the kitchen where we’d spend hours peeling, pitting, and boiling — all to make a few humble jars of jam. I had never tasted anything sweeter or more delicious, a treat made even better because we’d made it ourselves. It was a labor of love, and one I got to share with someone who meant so much to me.
From the very start, Just Jan’s has been a labor of love. It is my sincere passion to bring quality ingredients, made thoughtfully and with care, to your kitchens. Throughout it all, I’ve learned that when you’re doing what you love, the fulfillment is nothing short of magical.
I was, and continue to be, overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone who’s been part of this amazing journey. From my business partner and dear friend, Kris, whose creativity and innovation won Just Jan’s a Sofi award for our Tangerine Sriracha, to my daughters, who ate countless PB&Js, to all of you — you are the heart of Just Jan’s. Your love for our products, your encouragement, and your willingness to share our story with others have made this 14-year milestone possible.
As we celebrate 14 sweet years, I’m more excited than ever for what lies ahead. Here’s to continuing to make memories in the kitchen with the people who mean so much to us. And to spreading the goodness — one jar at a time. Thanks for being part of the Just Jan’s family.
Love,
Jan
