Ever noticed a cluster of bees hanging out at the entrance of their hive? That’s called “bearding,” and it’s not just a social gathering; it’s their natural air conditioning system! On hot days, bees will beard outside while workers fan their wings at the entrance to create an airflow that cools the hive and prevents overheating.

We are delighted to announce a new addition to our Sugah Moon apiary: a swarm of honey bees that we saved from a local family’s yard. The family was generous enough to let us relocate the bees to our hive boxes, and they also asked us to name the swarm John in honor of their loved one.
