Hugged Stuffing Making Cherished Friends for Precious Little Ones I've always loved soft, cuddly things.

Over the years, I've come to understand their importance in the healthy development of little children. In short, a child needs a cuddle buddy, a friend, to guide them through the rough patches of life. So today, I find my greatest joy making precious keepsakes for your little one.

Well, I sent this doll off to her new home yesterday. Maybe she's going to be a special Christmas gift? I wish her new family all the best, and for many loving memories through the years.

There! She's done! And I think she turned out beautifully. She's a gift for a 9-year-old girl--a thank you gift, actually.

Here's the story. Last summer I was browsing the mall and came across a beautiful necklace. I told myself, "Someday." Then friends invited me to share Christmas Eve with them. They asked their daughter to shop for me and she selected this necklace, even though she had no way of knowing I had admired it.

I felt like I wanted to do something special to say thank you. What better way than with a doll? After all, dolls bring love.

I had a chat with Barb Kobe, and she explained that in order to obtain the perfect healing doll, it's best to make it yourself. Here's a good class to show you how.

Pamela's Doll Making as a Transformative Process Dolls have been used throughout history as repositories for intense feeling, hopes, and aspirations. Because the forms can be simple and primitive,...

Business hasn't exactly been booming with this doll business. That's okay, actually. I've learned a lot, about many things.

One thing of particular interest. I gave a doll to a friend for her birthday and she said, "These pictures are very good, but they don't do the dolls justice. This doll is Beautiful! Much more beautiful than I expected."

I was very flattered, but I learned something from this comment. Marketing dolls online is the wrong approach. People who wish to purchase a doll would like to hold it first.

I'll still hold these dolls available for purchase, but I think I'll change the function of this page a bit. Turn it into something...inspirational, educational. Hey, this can provide an excuse to study a topic of interest! That's a win/win as far as I can see.

So let me see.....hmmmm....oh, this is going to be fun!

I've kept my own doll with me. I take it to therapy sessions, and pack it around the house with me when I'm very overwhelmed. And I sleep with it. After a lifetime of abuse, and missing out on all the "normal" things of childhood, I guess I'm making up for lost time. And I'm giving myself now, what I should have had then.
This morning I woke up to find my doll on the floor. Apparently, I had kicked it out of bed as I slept, as if it was a burden in the way. I think that means the doll is doing its job, and I'm healing.
I'm not ready to lay it to rest yet. She'll still be sitting on my bed, and I'll be sleeping with her for a little while longer. It took a lot of long, hard work to get my doll back. I'm not letting it go without a fight.

I gave another doll away, this one to a girl in her mid-twenties. She came in and said, "I've heard a lot about these dolls you make, but I've never seen them." I think this was her way of saying, "Can I have a doll?" without sounding.....impolite? begging? So I brought one out, and she ooh'ed and ahh'ed. I said, "She's yours." But then the girl said, "Do you have any others, so I can choose?" She finally settled on a soldier doll. Somehow, my soldier dolls are very inspiring to abuse victims. I think they send the message "You're worth fighting for." "You're worthy of doing what it takes to heal." I haven't seen the doll since. She keeps it safely in her room, where it should be, standing ready to offer comfort.
