Yesterday was such a special day for me. My grandparents, Kay and Llew, were visiting from Idaho and finally got to come to a market.
If you didn’t already know, these two were the inspiration for this lil business of mine. I chose the name “Possum Belly” after my grandma’s Possum Belly Hoosier hutch (pictured on the second slide).
Some of my earliest memories are going through all the trinkets and treasures she had in her hutch — ceramic animal figurines, a real preserved sea horse, cobalt blue glass, china plates and cups, etc.
My grandparents owned an antique shop in Idaho when I was a youngin’ and they have been collectors and resellers their whole lives. Yesterday, having them at the market was such a full circle moment. So much of the product I have came from their collection. As people were buying things, it was so surreal to be able to say “that was my grandparents” and point to my grandparents right behind me.
I’m so grateful to them for encouraging me and I’m so grateful to be able to connect with other resellers and customers on something that is so engrained in my soul. Thank you to everyone for making today extra special! 🫶🏼
