⚠🚸CAUTION ADVISE due to this rain event 🚸⚠
🐟Who- If you have a koi-pond that is less that say 2000-3000 gallons and has been subject to this crazy rain event, please get a KH (Alkalinity) test kit. (it's a good idea to test regardless).
❓Why- Rain is acidic and it will drop your PH if your KH is low (below 5dKH or 100ppm), as the pond water will be overwhelmed with the amount of acid-rain. KH factor is a value that represents the amount of minerals (carbonates) in the water, that get consumed by acidic influences, and therefore stop/balance/buffer the pH from dropping. Therefore, if your KH is low, your pH will rapidly drop (called a "pH crash") as the carbonates are all used up due to the overwhelming rain. If your PH crashes it will your koi will suffer significantly, or even die.
✅Solution- (1-) Get this KH kit at or your neighborhood pet store. I don't recommend using strips unless this is a last resort. If KH kit is not available, get the KH & GH test kit, or any other manufacturers KH test kit. (2-) test your KH value. (3-) If your KH is low (below 5dKH or 100ppm), then add "Alkalinity Up" or "baking soda" or "alkalinity booster" so something similar to the pond. You can get this at the pet store also, or pool supply or even DIY stores like Home Depot or Lowes...Call us for how to do this. 📱Go to www.atxkoi.com/contact (phone and email is at the bottom of page).

I went to in Buffalo Tx, and met with owner Kathy Overton. She was kind enough to drive me around the mud ponds. This place is amazing with over 30 mud pinds and 50 live holding tanks, and a drive through service for live fish. Check it out.

I just finished a facelift and fix up for this lady’s front yard pond. I got the waterfall set up and working, built the brick wall, then spruced it up with some plants and koi as well.

It absolutely filled my heart when she told me that the neighbor kids come over to feed the fish, sit with her, enjoy the pond, and exchange stories about their day. She called me today and told me how much she loves it… told me it’s a neighborhood attraction.
She named one koi “Raj” and the other one “Diana”. I’ve never had a koi named after me!! She just totally made my day. Now all this is something to be proud of! And to top it all, I made a new friend too.
