Random thoughts...

You know, this is my first year running a full-time business.
It's been a wild ride, to say the least.

• Sweat? Got enough to fill a snow cone trailer.
• Sleep? What's that? I'm running on 4-hour naps and pure determination.
• Mishaps? Let's just say I could write a book titled "101 Ways to Mess Up a Snow Cone Business (And How to Fix It)".

But you know what?

Every scoop, every late night, every problem solved is teaching me something. And recently, I realized these lessons aren't just for me.

See, I've got two boys and a brand new baby girl.

And while I started this business to serve up the best dang snow cones in East Austin, I've stumbled upon an unexpected benefit:

I'm showing my kids what entrepreneurship really looks like.

Every day, they see their old man:

• Hustling to make dreams come true
• Problem-solving on the fly
• Serving our community with a smile (even when I'm dog-tired)

They're learning that success isn't just handed to you - it's scooped out one cone at a time.

Thank you for making Chicano Park Day unforgettable!

First off, I want to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who came out.

The turnout was incredible, and that line at our stand? It wasn't just a line for snow cones - it was a line of people standing up for East Austin.

But let's be clear: yesterday wasn't about shaved ice. It was about something much bigger, much more important.

It was about us - the East Austin community - coming together to celebrate our roots, our culture, and our history. It was about showing the world that we're here, we're proud, and we're not going anywhere.

To everyone who grabbed a snow cone from us - gracias.
Your support means the world to this small, family-owned business. But more than that, thank you for being part of this powerful moment in our neighborhood's story.

What we saw yesterday was beautiful. People from La Raza, united in their love for this community and their determination to preserve its unique character.

That's what Chicano Park Day is all about.

This celebration was just the beginning. We need to keep this energy going, keep standing together, keep fighting to maintain the roots of East Austin. Because this neighborhood?

• Gabe says it tastes amazing (and we agree!)

Quick story:

I had to run out to grab a new part for our ice machine (because let's face it, in Texas, a broken ice machine is an emergency!).

My amazing mom stepped in to hold down the fort. (Thanks, Mom!)

So there's my mom, manning the window, when she spots about 5 of our family members walking up.

"Oh, how nice," she thinks.

But wait, there's more! As they get closer, another 3 family members appear. And just when she thought that was it, 2 more show up!

Mom's thinking, "What the heck is going on here?"

She asks if they planned this little family gathering. Their answer? Nope!

They all just happened to have the same craving for an Avalanche snow cone at the same time. Talk about a sweet coincidence!

Below is the photo my mom snapped of this impromptu family reunion.

And trust me when I say... this kind of thing happens more often than you'd think at Avalanche.

We see friends bumping into each other, coworkers catching up over a cone, and families turning a quick treat stop into an afternoon hangout.

It's like our little snow cone stand has become East Austin's unofficial meeting spot!

That's why we believe so strongly in what we do.

Sure, we're serving up the best dang snow cones in Texas, but we're also creating a space for our community to come together, catch up, and make memories.
