This is my photograph of the Madison River in Yellowstone National Park. Taken just off of the Riverside drive out of West Yellowstone.
When you look into this photograph, you can see how the Madison River guides your eye through the scene. I photographed it on a day with high, diffused clouds, so the light stays soft—no harsh shadows, just calm, even tones that bring out the true greens in the grasses and the depth in the evergreens.
What appeals most to me is the quiet mood. The sagebrush along the bank gives you a natural anchor in the foreground, and the river carries you right toward that peaceful tree line. It’s a very authentic Yellowstone moment—simple, natural, and relaxing.
Tec Notes; Made with my trusty Nikon D5100. f/16, 1/250 sec, ISO-160. 20 mm on my small telephoto lens. UV and Polarizer filters used to knock down glare and true up the colors.
