Hey everyone, it’s Miko.
It’s been quiet on here because I’ve had the rare gift of time off from work without stressing about income. Instead of diving straight into art, I focused on my home, getting it summer-ready so I can host all types of intimate events like listening parties, dance parties, smoke sessions, and more. After that, it was time to pour back into the studio.
I’ve spent time with Amanda and German, watching them flip their spaces for classes and exhibitions and then right back to creative flow. It inspired me. Truthfully, a major goal of mine is to secure another space someday. One that centers Black, Brown, and LGBTQIA+ voices and provides a true gallery experience for our communities.
So, I rearranged the studio and quietly started testing something new: weekly private “Skeleton Crew” meetings. So far, I’ve only invited a handful of folks. One person has been consistent, and honestly, that’s been enough. It’s become a weekly promise to myself to show up.
I even shifted my work availability to make this happen. I chose Sunday evenings with the hope it worked for everyone. Now, I’m officially opening up space for more artists. Here’s the deal:
📌 Show up at least once a month.
📌 If you miss 4 weeks in a row, I’ll assume it doesn’t fit your schedule. No love lost. I just need to make room for those who want to be there.
📌 Max capacity is 5–8 people, so space is limited.
If you didn’t get an invite but want to come through, reach out. I’m starting a waiting list and will check in with current members before expanding. Priority will be given to artists from Black, Latinx, and other communities of color. There are plenty of spaces for others elsewhere. This one is for us.
Let’s build something real. 💀🖤
