Is anybody paying attention to what Coach Deion Sanders is doing lately? Dude gave up a lavish laid back lifestyle in Texas to move to Mississippi (Def not on anyone’s vacation list) to coach a low paying HBCU football team. He didnt care about the money. He wasn’t hurting for money anyway. He didnt care about the location. He has been all over the world. But he saw an opportunity to give back and bring energy to a league that never gets ANY attention. Who better to bring fire than the king of all time smoke… Prime!!! Not only has he brought attention but he has brought MONEY to an elite HBCU and he’s about to gift them a National Championship too. Its because of HIM that ESPN, Sports Illustrated, and now CBS is doing deals to air HBCU games. But pay attention. His sons attend and play at Jackson St too. His daughter attends Jackson St as well and she plays basketball. So really what this Black Father did was set it up for his kids to go to an HBCU and EVERYDAY he gets to spend time with them and cover them within boundaries as they become adults. In the process of preparing his own, he is preparing sooooo many other young men as well. I told y’all two years ago he was one of my Top 10 Favorite People of All Time. He has moved into my Top 5 now because when I see a Black Man give up money and luxury to be a father and a leader for others… THIS is the recipe for how we turn our community around.
