Hello Friends, Partners, and Supporters of Changemaker Chocolates,

It is with mixed emotions that we announce to you that we have decided to close operations at Changemaker Chocolates. It has been an incredible and exciting journey for our team. We started in 2019 as an idea for a business with a mission to create jobs that end homelessness and supply our customers with hand-crafted chocolate indulgences of the highest quality.

2019 was an exciting one for us. We opened our business, hired our first employee Barry, began sharing our chocolates with our community, and formed many partnerships that were vital to our success to the end. We need to take a moment to thank Barry for being an incredible first member of our team and for trusting us enough to join our budding business in its infancy.

2020 brought unanticipated challenges to the business and our vision for how we fulfill our mission. Barry moved on from Changemaker in early 2020, and in March we were scheduled to interview to fill our need for a second Changemaker to join our team. We all know what March 2020 brought, and our plans were derailed like those of many other small businesses. Not feeling comfortable hiring during the pandemic, we decided to shift how we fulfilled our mission, instead donating 30% of our 2020 profit to Project Community Connections, Inc (PCCI) and Crossroads Atlanta, both amazing organizations ending homelessness right here in ATL. Still not in a position to hire in 2021, we again donated over 30% of our 2021 profit to nonprofit organizations ending homelessness. Though we were disappointed to not be able to hire another employee during the last 2 years, we’re proud to have contributed to ending homelessness in Atlanta by donating over $1,800 to local nonprofit organizations during that time.

While we’re sad to let our dream to create many more jobs that end homelessness go, we’re truly thankful for what we were able to accomplish and for the support we received from you, our customers, our local and national corporate clients, the Atlanta community (including the Mayor!), our retail partners who took a chance on selling our products in their stores, our friends and families, and everyone who supported our dream and encouraged our vision.

Thank you to everyone who ordered gifts from us during the holiday season! We’re so thankful for the friends and customers who have supported us year after year. And we’re proud that every Christmas order has already made it successfully to its destination! We even got to see our first box to Hawaii get delivered last week! Happy Holidays everyone!

After experiencing years of homelessness, what could be better than starting the New Year off in the comfort of one's home?

"Many agencies throughout the City of Atlanta are currently working together to end homelessness for those who have been on the streets the longest. Partners for HOME is leading this "Housing Surge" -- an initiative to house 800 people experiencing homelessness in Atlanta. Crossroads and many other agencies are joining in to get our guests connected to this program. We want to thank Gateway Center for assigning an assessor to Crossroads every Tuesday to assess our guests. The assessor determines if a guest is eligible for the program. We also want to thank Aniz for sending a case manager out every Tuesday and Thursday to help our guests apply for their new apartments.
