When people come to our home, this wall hanging is one of my most asked about pieces.
I wanted a family picture that was more abstract and felt like a piece of art. One that made you look at it a second or two before realizing it even was a family picture. It’s been such a conversation piece, and still makes me smile 3 years later! So here’s the how-to.
Step one- pick a special photo that tells a story. I used one taken from when we first started building our forever home. It was muddy and messy, kids were little. There was laughter and some tears, and all those things perfectly captured our season of life building a home together.
Step 2- “artify”! add a cool filter- befunky has some awesome ones, you can choose from so many different styles and go as wild or traditional as you want.
Step 3- print on a woven photo blanket, I used canvas champ. 60”x80” (super impressive quality- it’s not just photo printed on top but woven through- see inverted image when our painters accidentally hung the tapestry upside down and backwards 🤣)
Step 4- sew a straight line 1” off the bottom and 1” off the top that can fit a thin steel rod through each one. (I took mine to a local alteration/seamstress and picked up the rods from Home Depot. I then hung using two small cafe rod hooks on either side
And voilà!
A large one of a kind piece of art for under $100!
