Storytime! Last week Sirr and I had a fantastic opportunity to pitch to (wait for it) Charles Barkley!
*I will pause for dramatic effect*
Yes! When we wanted God to open doors, he blew off the doors, built a whole new house, and put CB inside.
We intended to meet other investors that evening, but unfortunately, they had an emergency and rescheduled for another date. (I will share that meeting story another time)
We were about to leave when our server Taylor (Clark Atlanta graduating senior and owner of ), told us to hang out because you never know who you will meet at this restaurant.
So we did, and guess who Sirr sees on his way to the bathroom. Yep, Charles Barkley.
It was a lucky shot, but I encouraged Sirr to talk to him. I mean, we were presentation prepared. Mr. Barley had left the restaurant halfway down the block when Sirr chased him down the street. Sirr told CB about Nile Street and also mentioned his lovely wife (me) was waiting for him upstairs.
*my favorite part*
Charles was very interested in meeting me, so he agreed to walk and talk with Sirr back to our location.
(SCENE TWO)
I am on my phone, peripheral to the door, and Sirr walks in with Charles Barkley. In my head, I was like, "this ninja did it! omg, I love him!" Mr. Barkley shook my hand, introduced himself, and said, "So your man was telling me about you all's business..."
The meeting went well! Mr. Barkley saw our vision and passion for what Nile Street can be for our community. Best of all, we gifted him and Taylor with a branded box full of black-owned goodies. Some of the tagged brands have already joined the neighborhood, and the other brands that aren't committed or oblivious to Nile Street are open to starting a conversation.
All of our information is in CB's hands. If his team contacts us, only God knows what's in store for us.
