I am creating holiday furoshiki cloth this year! What is furoshiki you ask?...
Well, Furoshiki is the traditional Japanese wrapping cloth made up of a single piece of cloth. It has more than 1,200 year-old history and had been widely used until the end of the Edo Period. The custom of using furoshiki dates back as early as the Nara Period (710-784) when it was used for keeping the valuables of the Emperors.
Because it is made from fabric it is machine washable and reusable which makes it the perfect alternative to paper wrapping that is single use and thrown in a landfill. Even better, you can tie it up and use it as a bag year round for whatever your heart desires. My personal favorite is for using it as a produce bag.
