If you *know* hands-on creative time makes you feel better but you have a hard time working it into your routine (we've all been stuck in a scrolling loop when we know we should put the phone down...🙈) this is exactly the support you need to help you kickstart a new downtime habit that supports your overall health and well-being 🌿

Highlights from this update:

🧵I mended a thrifted jumpsuit that had a tear and added a little embellishment for funsies

🪡 I've made progress on two cross stitch WIPs that are in totally different styles (nice to change it up!)

🧶 At the end of last month I set a goal to refresh on my knitting skills — I'm still a beginner — so I started an eyelet shawl that I plan to dye at the end

What's something you're excited to work on during your next creative session?

After more than a year in unintentional time-out following the transition from to , this much-loved pattern is finally BACK. IN. STOCK. ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Fun fact: this was the first pattern I ever sold (though not the first I designed), and it was a runaway best seller that first year in business 💫🤩

Almost 3 years later, I find it just as relevant as ever, for better or for worse 🙃🫠

You can find the PDF pattern in the cross stitch section of Room for Calm, or comment 'HEARTS' to get the link in your DMs!

Happy stitching 🪡 (It'll make your mood upon opening emails a little better 😜)

This was an incredibly fun 15 minutes of my life.

I did it in between hanging laundry and working on a new welcome email sequence.

I didn't "make" anything in particular.

But it instantly turned on my creative brain, and I felt SO much more energized afterward than if I'd used those same minutes to scroll ☺️

If you know engaging in creativity makes you feel better but you need a little more support and accountability in making it part of your routine, the Room for Calm: Creative Self-Care System is designed to help — no matter your creative interests!

Ever have that feeling where you're desperately craving creative calm, but the prospect of actually working on a project is...just a little too much for the moment? 🥴

Here are 5 ways I give myself the benefit of a creative reset without having to be in project mode 😌 Make sure to tell me what I missed!

1️⃣ Wind a ball of yarn. The repetitive motion and tactile experience are very calming to your brain 🧶

2️⃣ Organize your fabric stash. Quilting fabrics, cross stitch fabrics, scrap fabrics...doesn't matter what kind, but the focus of sorting and the satisfaction of organizing will tune out everything else 🧵

3️⃣ Swatch a set of markers, gel pens, or colored pencils. You get the soothing relief of coloring without any of the sneaky stress that comes with picking colors and wanting your result to look good 🖍️

4️⃣ Put some embroidery thread onto bobbins or floss drops. The mood reset mechanism here is very similar to winding a ball of yarn — but if you're prone to tangles, maybe don't use this one for stress relief 😆

5️⃣ Hole punch some journal pages. Sometimes writing/recording feels like a little more than your tired brain can manage, but you can enjoy the satisfying "thwack" of the hole punch and make sitting down next time a little easier by preparing a set of pages in your 3-ring journal 📒

What did I miss? Share your favorite not-quite-crafting activities in the comments! 💬

And be sure to follow for more tips to inspire your daily dose of creativity 💖

This is a little moment of peace and presence I look forward to every day ☺️

I fill out my time tracker and creative calendar daily, and update my project trackers and self-care journal weekly 🗓️

I have also personalized my setup by swapping out the general WIP wheel tracker for my cross stitch-specific one, since that's an "always on" craft for me 🥰 I use the sticky-style tracker for other long-term crafty projects!

Highlights from this week:

🐶 I officially decided to abandon an amigurumi crochet kit that didn't have enough yarn OR stuffing (so annoying)

🪡 I made progress on my current home-day and commute-day stitching projects

🤔 I actually indulged in a little TOO much crafting/doodling time this week and need to be a little more focused on work next week 🤣

The most mind-blowing thing about creativity is that when practiced regularly, it measurably contributes to better health and longevity right alongside exercise, sleep, and good nutrition. 🤯

And doing creative things is FUN, so it seems like it would be an easy "yes" to put into your daily routine, right??

Well... that's where it's not so simple.

The majority of you will say, "I would love to, but I just don't have time" (and boy do I relate to that feeling 😅). But that same majority will find that when you DO have time, you're often reaching for your phone for a little mindless scrolling instead...

I relate so strongly to this experience — and I spent so long changing my habits myself — that I created a whole system to address this exact problem of loving creative hobbies and knowing they're good for you, but never feeling like you have the time to enjoy them.

The✨ Room for Calm: Creative Self-Care System✨ is a printable journal and tracker bundle with detailed guidance that helps you work mindful creativity into your routine in a way that works just right for you — no matter what hobbies you enjoy or how many free minutes you have in your day.

And if you feel all in on swapping scrolling for hands-on creativity but aren't sure *what to actually do to start*, then 🌿Crossing Into Calm🌿 is the perfect companion! It's a 12-week ritual reset that lands in your inbox every Friday that guides you through a reflective journaling prompt that brings you to the present, and a meditative drawing exercise with step-by-step instructions.

You can check out both offerings in the links in my bio — Download a free sample of the Creative Self-Care System, and pair the full system with Crossing Into Calm for a discounted bundle that'll help you kick-start a new creative self-care habit today 💖

I was incredibly bummed to open up this origami sculpture kit and not find any written instructions 😩 I know videos can be an incredibly effective learning/teaching tool, and I certainly appreciate them as an option when I'm trying something totally new on my own — but no analog version at all??

I've chosen not to pick up this project so many times (even when I'm in the mood for that craft) because I simply don't want to be on a device at that moment. Period.

Would you be fine with video instructions only for a craft kit? Prefer it, even? I have to know if I'm the only one to feel this way...(i.e. totally indignant 😂)

If you always wish you had more time for your creative hobbies but you end up scrolling on your phone during downtime instead…this is for you 👋

The ✨ Room for Calm: Creative Self‑Care System ✨ is a printable journal + tracker bundle that helps you swap mindless screen time for meaningful creative time, so that a week, a month, a year from now you’re not left wondering where your free time went and wishing you’d spent it differently.

Instead, you’ll have built a new self-care habit, with the ability to see exactly how much creative time you've carved out, and how it made you feel.

Without structure to support you, it’s just too easy for another season to pass with your good creative intentions on the back burner. 😬 It's time to stop that pattern in its tracks.

Inside this 6‑piece system, you’ll find:

💖 A yearly creative time tracker

💖 Monthly creativity calendars

💖 Multi‑format project trackers

💖 Weekly reflection pages that make sure your creative time stays feeling like a balm, not another to‑do

And you don't have to figure out how to make it work for you alone — the system comes with a full guide that helps you personalize your setup so it's just right for your goals and routine.

PLUS if you want some extra support getting started, you can also bundle it with 🌿Crossing Into Calm🌿 and get 10% off the 12‑week ritual reset – it’s the perfect “training wheels” to help you build a regular creative practice while your new system tracks your progress:

➡️ Crossing Into Calm gives you a guided weekly ritual to ingrain creativity as part of your routine

➡️ The Creative Self‑Care System helps you keep that calming habit going with any creative hobbies you choose, all year long

If you’ve been waiting for a sign to finally prioritize creative time to boost your mental health, this is it 🌠
