While I was studying my Bible, I ran accross a very powerful passage.
2 Corinthians 1:3-5 says, "3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 5 For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ."
This struck me deeply. Everything we have been through in our lives, all trials and hardships, abuse, trauma, and joy--all of it--has had the purpose of preparing us to serve in this world.
As we embark upon our journey of self-care and healing, we become oaks of righteousness- strong and rooted as we bring healing to others based on the deep restoration God provided us (Isaiah 61:1-4).
No suffering is in vain. It is our duty to seek God and the resources He has provided to help us integrate our experiences and become whole in Jesus.
And then it is our duty to take the comfort and deep restoration afforded to us by the grace of God and share that comfort with others. Help others find their own deep restoration based on what we are uniquely experienced to help them overcome 💜.
Let us take a step back from our hardships and ask God, "Comfort me, restore me, and let me become the oak of righteousness, strong and rooted so that I may extend the same love and compassion to others that You have extended to me."
