So I am finally working on doing a massive over haul of our web site to make it more mobile user friendly. It is a work in progress and I am still adding our pictures and products but I have a few things loaded and basically functional.

If you want to take a look at it I have customcutlery.net pointed at it for now and will eventually have our .com address going there but I don't want to disrupt the .com address until the site is finished.

Any input, suggestions or ideas would be welcome.

Last week we changed phone providers and had some outages on Friday and again on Monday while the change was taking place.

When we made the change we also discontinued our 800 number due to low volume usage. In the world of cell phones, long distance is not really a consideration anymore and the cost of having the service was no longer necessary.

Our phones are now working correctly with our new provider and you can call us at 319-741-3199 with any of your needs.

This is the perfect time to be thinking about a nice carving set to use on that ham or turkey you are serving on Thanksgiving.

We have a heavy duty carving fork and it can be matched with a 7" or 8" carving knife or a nice chef's knife to make a great carving set.

The supplies site used to be supplies.customcutlery.com but since the move to the new server it is now found at

With this C-19 virus shutting down the entire economy it has caused a major drop in our sales because the core of our business is based on sport and gun shows (which have all been cancelled) and general tourism which is now non-existent.

This has left us with only online sales and an occasional phone sale.

Basically our cash flow hit a brick wall.

So if you were planning to pick up a new fillet knife at one of the cancelled shows you can still place orders for them online.

If you are now rediscovering home cooking with all of the fast food places reduced to carryout only then maybe a new chef knife would help with those newly discovered cutting chores.

The main thing is to do what ever you can to help support the small segment of the economy that is out there. Small businesses are hanging on by a very thin thread and will also end up being casualties from this pandemic.

This means the loss of many hand crafted items falling to mass produced lower quality replacements in the space our little hand crafted businesses once occupied.

Don't allow this virus to kill our remaining specialty businesses.
