An Obsidian Desire Reflection on Equity, Inclusion, and the Power of Choice

This came from a place of deep listening.
It’s not about opposition.
It’s about honoring choice.

We like to frame equity as fairness.
But fairness to whom?

Is it about justice… or about guilt?
Are we trying to heal, or simply avoid discomfort?

Because what’s “fair” to one
often feels like a quiet loss to another.
Especially when the decision wasn’t mutual.

As business owners, we’re told what to say.
How to think.
Who to support.

Not because we’re lacking values,
but because ours don’t match the script.

And if we speak up?
We’re labeled. Silenced.

So where’s our safe space?
Where’s the equity for those who chose different paths,
no children, no partner, no cause-based identity?

Where’s the fairness for the quiet ones,
the ones who just want to serve and build,
not pick a side in a war they never enlisted in?

Inclusion must allow for dissent.
Respect must go both ways.

True equity includes the right to say:
“Thank you, but I’ll build my own.”

I see you.
I respect your right to choose.
Please respect mine.

Free choice is the final equity.
Without it, society loses its balance—and its soul.

🍃 Like everything we offer, it doesn’t impose.
It simply reveals a Way.

This is not rebellion.
It’s reflection.

It's been a long journey and their have been a few bumps in the road, but I'm almost there. Obsidian Desire will be open for business very soon. I am finishing up some testing of the E-Commerce store to ensure their are no hiccups. Thank you all for the kind words of encouragement, they have kept my spirits high during this daunting adventure. Look forward to seeing you all soon!
