Congratulations to Halle Berry on her engagement to Van Hunt đź’Ť

Her ring is anything but traditional. A vintage sapphire and diamond engagement ring from the Retro era, set in yellow gold with a round diamond centre surrounded by step-cut sapphires and additional diamond accents, it reflects a bold yet deeply personal design choice. 

Dating back to the late 1940s to early 1950s, the Retro period was known for its warm gold tones, sculptural forms, and confident use of coloured gemstones, a departure from the geometric platinum-heavy Art Deco era. 

It’s also part of a broader shift we’re seeing today: more couples choosing vintage engagement rings, sapphire rings, and one-of-a-kind designs that tell a story, rather than following traditional diamond solitaires.

Silver has recently re-entered the spotlight, but long before today’s headlines, these solid silver pieces were already here, resting in our archives for decades. Recently rediscovered, this vintage collection includes sculptural rings, bangles, bracelets, charms, and pendants, many stamped by their original makers, including celebrated Scandinavian silversmiths such as Neils Erik From, one of Denmark’s greatest jewellers and silversmiths, active from 1931 to 1971.

Originally sourced by our director Medhanie Sena’s father for his former boutiques in High Street, Singapore, and Penang, these designs reflect a time when silver was treated as both material and art. Bold, modern, and unmistakably hand-crafted, they are also exceptionally rare in the international market.

With silver prices surging and global demand returning, pieces like these are becoming harder to find, especially in this condition and at this scale.
