Good news! 5 pax from same household can finally dine out at F&B establishments, excluding hawker centres & coffee shops. Means this weekend expect bigger crowds in shopping malls as families "chiong" to dine out together. ๐Ÿคฃ

Long time no eat out with my family too. Hopeful to beat the queue by dining before 12pm & at 6pm. Astons, Genki Sushi, etc... Here we come! ๐Ÿฅณ

Most food really taste better when eaten on the spot. Tabao-ed food usually have to discount 10-20% as they may have turned lukewarm or soggy. Sometimes more expensive as have to incur takeaway charges & some washing of cutlery & cleaning of table at home. ๐Ÿ˜ซ

This morning is pretty cool & cloudy. So a hot soupy breakfast will warm my empty belly. $3 serving of bee hoon soto... Sedap! ๐Ÿคค

Satisfying broth with shreds of chicken & crunchy bean sprouts, some chilli to spice it further. One of my favourite dishes to order when patronising a malay hawker stall. ๐Ÿ˜‡

Hui Ji Fish Ball Noodle ~ Yong Tau Fu
#02-44

Economical hot breakfast from $3. I ordered fish ball bee hoon soup instead of yong tau fu. The ingredients appeared generous for $3 portion. Bee hoon was the thin version but a little thicker than most other stalls. Soup was flavoursome; not sure due to MSG or the ingredients used. Check this stall out if you like a cheap & good breakfast. ๐Ÿ˜

Nasi Lemak
#02-12

Monday blues... Back at Tiong Bahru for once/twice a week due to covid restrictions. Lessons reduced by half but still got to pay same amount of school fees. ๐Ÿ˜ซ

Barely half of the hawker stalls were opened this morning. Rest days or kena quarantined? Saw a few with paper notices stuck on their closed shutters that they would be on more than a week's break. ๐Ÿค”

So no choice but to queue for nasi lemak again but at different stall. Ordered set A & added 1 piece otah. Only prepared $4 in my hand so uncle gave me 10 cents discount. ๐Ÿ˜

Chilli sauce was watery, not spicy enough. Rice had slight coconut fragrant. Chicken wing was crispy and marinated but tasted quite lacklustre. Disappointed with ikan bilis - only saw peanuts, ikan bilis virtually non-existent. Egg & otah were nothing to shout about. Overall, an average breakfast that would not brighten up your day. ๐Ÿ˜…

Next time will give this a miss; gonna try out the highly raved but expensive The Coco Rice. ๐Ÿ˜‡

Revisited this stall & ordered soy sauce chicken with roasted pork noodles at $4.50. Uncle very polite when communicating to me & auntie. ๐Ÿ˜

Generous amount of boneless meat on my noodles as you can see. Roasted pork has crispy skin but the pork belly fat to meat portion is above average only. Chicken flesh is abit dry but acceptable too given they are cut into small pieces. โ˜บ๏ธ

With just 2 visits, I can conclude this stall sells affordable & above average noodles. ๐Ÿ˜‡

F.P.C Seafood @ Block 267 Tampines is a humble looking but amazing family-run eating house that serves zi char from the heart. ๐Ÿ˜‡

Hubby recently reminisced about the unforgettable tze char food we had several months back when 8 pax dining was allowed. So I decided to tabao 8 dishes for today's lunch. ๐Ÿคค

Auntie shared that uncle would be retiring in 3 years' time so better go support more often when dining restrictions are relaxed. Even though I preordered, uncle waited for my arrival before frying the vegetables for best taste. Uncle mentioned the food will taste the best if eaten straight at the eating house. ๐Ÿ˜

My family was satisfied with most of the dishes except the fried prawns with oats which had turned soggy. Fried prawn paste chicken was also no longer crispy & fragrant. So my advice would be to avoid deep fried & crispy items for takeaway as they would turn soft & soggy after a while. ๐Ÿ˜…

Our previous dine-in experience was definitely 5/5. ๐Ÿ‘

Moo Station SG

1st & only Thai pork dry rice porridge stall in SG. My hubby thought the stall was selling beef when I told him the stall's name. Must try at least once if you like pig, egg, rice & soup. ๐Ÿ˜‡

We tabao-ed combo set meal for 4 pax ($18*2=$36). Called 50 mins earlier to order just in case. Boss was very friendly & helpful; offered to send the food to our car as carpark was full. Payment by cash or paynow. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Different pork ingredients/parts & onsen egg served on flavourful rice. Delicious hot soup to drink on its own or add into the rice as you like. Crispy pork belly was abit dry & lean but good enough. Deep fried fluffy pork skin was full of crisp. ๐Ÿคค

My family enjoyed our lunch. Yummy & burp! ๐Ÿคฉ

Kim Fa Fish Ball Minced Meat Noodle
#02-65

Revisiting this stall as previously in July, I forgot to snap photos of the food bought (before & after). โ˜บ๏ธ

$3.50 for a simple bowl of mee kia. Not really healthy or value for money given 2 out of 3 fishballs were irregular, minced meat was meagre & no traces of bean sprouts/lettuce/mushroom when comparing to other similar hawker stalls. The taste was nothing much to shout about. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Strange since I thought I had a better impression during my 1st visit. Maybe different auntie manning the stall? ๐Ÿค”

End of HBL for now. Hopefully no more or minimal disruptions to the kiddos' learning going forward. Announcement of exams cancellation sent much joy & relief to students (yes!) & parents (maybe?). ๐Ÿฅณ

The owners of this stall must have a memorable childhood (็ซฅ่ฎฐ). ๐Ÿฅฐ

Due to unassuming signboard, I only got to try out this stall for breakfast today. Shall order something similar to my earlier post for better comparison.

Wanton mee ($3.00) add chicken feet ($1.50) for only $4.50. The sauce was oily but tasty; noodle was springy; char siew meat slices were lean & tender; wantons had acceptable amount of meat filling. The braised chicken feet were soft & tender; easy to chew off the skin, cartilage, tendons & bones. ๐Ÿคค

Overall, this will be the winner for me in terms of pricing & old school taste (ๅคๆ—ฉๅ‘ณ). ๐Ÿ‘

When business is super duper brisk... One can afford to be more arrogant & cocky...

Boss Daughter: "We will only start selling at 11am."

Me: "Can I preorder & come back at 11am?"

Boss Daughter: "Cannot. We are really too busy now as you can see."

I guess I must have the power of group buy to preorder from the stall. ๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿ˜”

Some months back, my friend shared that this stall is popular due to ้˜ฟๅฆˆ็…ฎ็š„ๅ‘ณ้“ (grandma's cooking taste). Bought once for my hubby but he didn't find the fried beehoon/noodles fantastic. Just similar to most other hawker stalls. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

This morning I tried to order pumpkin cake & glutinous rice combo but the latter not available. How about soon kueh? Also not available. So back to fried beehoon & pumpkin cake combo ($3.50). ๐Ÿ˜

Fried beehoon with 2 ๆ–™ for $2.30; pumpkin cake for $1.20. Portions were small so I would suggest ordering 2 types or more to fill up one's stomach adequately. Taste wise to me ~ above average/not bad. Pumpkin cake ~ prefer Jalan Berseh Hawker Centre. ๐Ÿ˜‡

My favourite weekday lunch when I'm at Boon Keng area. ๐Ÿค—

Delicious, hearty & value for money. Ordered yellow rice with 2 vegetables, beef rendang & fried chicken drumstick for only $7.50. ๐Ÿคฉ

See how big the portions are. ๐Ÿคค

Happy Children's Day!!! ๐Ÿฅณ
Oh wait... You mean school holiday's next Friday? So no choice but to wake up early at 6am as usual today. ๐Ÿ˜ด

While on the double decker bus to Tiong Bahru, DiDi wasn't very obedient. Kept on trying to loosen my grip of his hand to dash off, wanting to climb the stairs to the upper deck. Only 3 stops' ride so I didn't allow him. Got weird stares from other passengers also ๆฒกๅŠžๆณ•ใ€‚๐Ÿ˜œ

Soon Li Coffee Stall

To ensure enough tummy space for my lunch (Indonesia Curry Rice) later, shall just have "light" breakfast now. Ordered 3-in-1 pancake (coconut, peanut & red bean filling), brown rice peanut pancake & iced honey lemon as blue flower tea not available. ๐Ÿ˜

All in takeaway fashion so no need return tray later. Anyway, learnt from cleaner that their SOP is to clean the tabletop twice with disinfectant spray after patrons finish/vacate the table. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

I'm no fan of mian jian kueh but I will prefer the crispy version. This 3-in-1 pancake is good for light eaters who want to savour all 3 flavours at one go for $1.30. Brown rice peanut pancake ($0.90) tastes pretty similar to normal one. Texture may feel a little denser but still soft & moist enough to chew. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Was excited to see blue flower tea ($2.00) on the drink stall menu. Alas, it was not available so iced honey lemon ($1.70) it would be. Light refreshing sweet with tinge of lemon taste. ๐Ÿ˜š
