Nine years ago, No.41 started as a sewing school; as a way to provide training, and hopefully a job, and ultimately a choice to some very special young women I had gotten the privilege to cross paths with.

Sweet Amelie was in our very first class. She learned to sew and over the course of her first year with No.41, she fed 1000s of meals to local students, with the profits from the sale of her work. Eventually, Amelie was sponsored (by some dear friends) into university and upon completion, she entered the workforce of the Rwanda’s capital city, Kigali.

In December, when we opened our first shop in Kigali, I never would have dreamed I could get the chance to work with her again, until one evening I got a message from her “sponsor” turned Mama, that she was looking for a job. I hired her within the week!!

If you’re in Kigali, please stop by the shop and welcome our girl “home”. New shop hours are MONDAY-SATURDAY 10a-6p

Hiii, friends! Happy New Year! New year, new vibe. ✨

I love a new year and a fresh start, especially when literally everything is new; new shop, new look, new website, new products (coming soon!). I would love to be one of those impressively organized people with a flashy launch and an impressive rollout of all the things, but the truth is... I’m just not.

We’re flying by the seat of our pants here, sometimes hanging on by a thread, but mostly having a fantastic time. We’re overwhelmingly grateful for all of your support last year, but especially in these last few months, and we’re wildly expectant for what lies ahead. Get ready, it’s been a long time coming!

Hi! We are full-blown Christmasing over here! And our little elves are working overtime!

If you’re in Rwanda and you’re going to be at either the Christmas Bazaar or the Christmas Market, we are now taking pre-orders for these one of a kind, festive wooden stars. Fabi, our groundskeeper/guard has taken on a second job searching the wood, removing the bark, and fixing them into unique star shapes. We want to make sure we have enough to go around. I’m going to put another example of how we have decorated with this in our home for the holidays, if you would like to pre-order yours, will you please reply to that photo and let us know. Each star is roughly 1m square and 15,000rwf. We can’t wait to see you at the upcoming markets and show you what else we’ve got up our sleeves. 🎅🏾✨ @ Rubavu, Gisenyi, Rwanda
