The Air Jordan 11 “Gamma” first dropped in December 2013, shaking up the AJ11 lineup with a bold, almost all-black upper, glossy patent leather and striking Gamma Blue and Varsity Maize accents—a sharp departure from the classic championship-tied colorways like Concord or Bred.
Though not an OG colorway tied to Michael Jordan’s on-court history, the Gamma quickly carved out a cult-classic status among sneakerheads thanks to its sleek yet aggressive look and holiday season debut. Over the next decade, demand remained consistently high in resell and collector circles, keeping the Gamma in conversations long after its original release sold out.
When Jordan Brand finally retro’d the Gamma in December 2025 as part of the AJ11’s 30th anniversary celebration, it didn’t just drop—it exploded. Fans who had waited 12 years clamored for pairs, and despite relatively large production, stock disappeared fast, elevating the Gamma to arguably the most hyped non-OG Air Jordan 11 colorway since its debut.
