In 2003, after returning from a trip to the USA, I felt inspired to get a little bit more involved in this wonderful craft. That was the year when "Tightloop Fly Rods" was actually born. In that time, in Romania, a good quality fly rod was nearly impossible to find. I built my first fly rod from a seven foot fiberglass spinning rod. It was quite a memorable experience and actually a good start of
this wonderful and rewarding craft. During all these years I struggled to find the best materials and tried to build better quality fly rods from either small rod blank manufacturers or the big names. It didn't matter that much as long as they were good quality blanks that could be turned into beautiful, perfect fishing instruments. Blank offerings have come a long way since I built my first fly rod. Fortunately today, some tried and tested, older designs are back into production and with better materials. Thanks to revival of fiberglass fly rods, building some great trout rods has never been more promising. The older ones now get the recognition they very much deserve, and thanks to the modern resins and materials available performance is much improved. You will observe my rods have a style of their own and I like to think that my crafting skills have evolved over time. Most of my rods are what we call "modern classics" and they crafted with great pride here in Transylvania, a renowned region of Romania, with beautiful nature, mountains and rivers. Perfectionists will apreciate the fine details of my rods, and they will enjoy fishing them even more. I build rods mainly on custom orders and but I enjoy more to build freely. Folks understand that. The result is usually very satisfactory at both ends. Should you consider my work to be the kind you need to see in your custom built fly rod, drop me a line and we could talk about it. It won't be just another.
