A recent study published in the Journal of Clinical Medicine (JCM) MDPI highlights a critical finding for eye banking: the 60 mL ratiolab multipurpose beaker in combination with Cornea-Claw stabilization is not just an alternative — it is a superior solution for preserving donor corneas during organ culture.

The Challenge
When a shortage of standard Böhnke holders disrupted corneal preservation in 2024, German eye banks had to innovate fast.
Researchers at the Eye Bank of Rhineland-Palatinate tested six different storage systems across 383 donor corneas.
