Un amigo y hermano compró este bajo Eko a buen precio. El bajo se podia tocar con dificultad. La acción estaba muy alto, las cuerdas mohosas y le faltaba un poco de cariño. Esta es una historia típica cuando compras una guitarra o un bajo usado. Se le dio una buena limpieza, se ajusto el brazo, la cejilla (nut), se limpiaron los trastes y diapasón y se limpió la electrónica. Mi amigo tiene ahora un bajo que es cómodo para tocar y suena bien. Si compras un instrumento y no es cómodo para tocar y no suena bien haz la inversión de llevarlo a un luthier para que lo ponga en condiciones. Con poco dinero puedes tener un instrumento que da gusto tocar y suena bien. Estoy a tus ordenes en Bayamón 787-501-6616

1994 Squier P Bass made in Japan. I bought this Bass on eBay for a good price but there was hidden damage. Some previous owner installed some Vintage tuners and made the holes for the ferrules too big. It appears the holes were carved out rather than drilled or reamed to size. The ferrules were epoxied in and the tuners weren't evenly spaced. Besides that extra holes were drilled for an extra string guide that was improperly positioned. I drilled the tuner holes oversized and inserted wooden maple dowels which were redrilled for some period correct Gotoh tuners. The face and the back of the headstock looked horrible so I glued maple veneer to the front and back to hide all the defects. After everything was reassembled it turns out the neck was bowed in the center so I clamped the neck and applied heat for several hours and now the neck is almost dead straight. At a later date I plan to refinish the neck and possibly the body although the paint is in pretty good shape. 1980s Carvin 5 String Bass USA. Was brought in for truss rod replacement and refinish. This Bass was originally active and was converted to passive. First task was replacing the truss rod which was maxed out and the neck had an up bow with high action. Replaced with a low profile Stewmac hotrod dual adjustable rod. I had to dig out the trussrod with a chisel because the wood strip covering the trussrod wouldn't come out any other way. The neck was bent and had to be straightened with heat and clamps. Once the fretboard was reinstalled it was leveled and the frets were polished and crowned. The body was sanded with various grits of paper to remove the previous finish. The pots were correctly wired and grounded. All the hardware was cleaned and lubricated. I had to fabricate a stand for the guitar to be able to apply the tung oil finish. Once dried everything was reassembled and adjusted to spec. Now the customer has a beautiful Bass that has low action and sounds great. 2018 Squier 5 string bass brought in for truss rod replacement. The truss rod was adjusted to the max and the action was very high. Intially I tried to straighten the neck with heat and clamps but that failed. The fretboard has binding and clear coat. Was able to removed the fretboard by scoring a line between the fretboard and the neck and using a heat gun. The board was removed without any damage. Both the neck and fretboard were bowed. The heel of the neck had to be cut to be able to remove the truss rod. I had to prepare a piece of filler to occupy the original truss rod channel. Then I routed a new channel to install the Stew Mac low profile truss rod which is much stronger than the original. I recommended installing the rod with the adjustment at the heel and made a filler for the heel with a hole for the truss rod adjustment. I also routed a slot in the body and pick guard for easy adjustment. When I glued the fretboard it didn't want to line up with the neck. So I used 4 dowel pins to locate it. After the board dried I had to reshape the sides to line up with the neck which required retinting and clear coating the neck. Now the action is low and easy to play. The total cost was a lot less than a Fender replacement neck. If you have a Bass that has high action that can't be adjusted with the truss rod let me quote you a truss bar replacement.

90s Ibanez TR PJ style bass. This Bass has been stored in its gig bag for many years. The electronics were completely corroded including the pickups. All the pickup screws broke as I removed the pickups. The neck had a severe backbow and the action was so high it was unplayable. Did a super deep clean and replaced the pots and jack. The frets were very corroded and were leveled polished and crowned. Truss bar was adjusted and a shim placed under the heel of the neck. Strings were replaced and a low action was achieved. As today is Dizzy Gillespie’s birthday, I am very touched to look back at so many smiling faces, a few of which you may recognize 😉. As you can see, I was in good company with Chuck Mangione (bottom), Maynard Ferguson (left), Herbie Hancock, Dizzy Gillespie (middle), Billy Higgins, and Yours Truly.

Not a day passes that I am not thankful for how many great musicians I have had the privilege of sharing my days with. Happy birthday, Mr. Gillespie. You are dearly missed.

Este es un 1996 Cort P Bass que me trajo un cliente para ver si lo podia poner en condiciones. Después de inspeccionarlo me di cuenta que no era costo efectivo arreglarlo pero me pareció un buen desafio intentarlo. Yo le di un bajo bueno por el Cort y procedí a ver lo que podia lograr. Fender Thinline Telecaster MIM for cosmetic repair and complete service. Clear coat was peeling on the side of the neck pocket. Repaired and refinished. The fretboard had deep gouges on the higher string frets. Frets were leveled crowned and polished. Did complete setup and deep clean with new strings.
